Thanks so much for posting this. My best friend's son is an F-18 pilot on the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72). He is currently patrolling the Southern NFZ over Iraq. This really hits home, especially for us that have been there.

If I knew anyone at CBS, would I admit it? :)
FreeRepublic is read by a lot of media types who lurk here to pick up on news and public opinion. Maybe someone at CBS will see your post and put the buzz in the right ear.
Of course Marine recuiterst office being smarter than your average bear, just might be planning to do just that. :)
Maybe we FReepers are being used as a focus group to sound out public reaction to this video clip. If so, I would say it is a rousing sucess. :)

Race,
No joy on the video...
but I don't need to see it, nobody has to sell me on the greatness of...
Uncle Sam's Misguided Children...
The United States Marine Corps are the best bunch of fightin' men the world will ever know...except for the US Navy SEALS, but they are small units...
if it wasn't for Marines, who else would charge a machine-gun emplacement just for fun!!!

Actually, I must be quite lucky.
They played this short before all features earlier this year at my local movie theater (Edwards in Valencia,CA - about 30 min. north of LA). They looped it twice, in between the slide show that goes on before the main picture.
The first time it was on everyone went dead silent - which was interesting for two reasons - one, it was packed with teenage girls (it was some chick flick I was forced to go see) which, if you've ever been in a theater with teenage girls you know the conversation level is almost deafening! - and two, the sound was turned so far down - I was surprised people didn't talk right over it.
The second time they did talk over it - which was fine, but I found it a bit disrespectful.
It gave me chills to see it on the big screen and an amazing heretofore unknown sense of personal patriotic pride that I've never experienced before.
When I told my parents (who were home babysitting my kids) about it - my mother's first reaction was "Oh! You mean they made you watch propaganda! That's awful!!"
I was completely shocked and saddened - that my parents, and others in their generation - are so ultra-sensitive to any showing of patriotism - that they automatically see it as some form of fascistic propaganda...
...Even if it's a film that basically just wants to show you the people willing to die for your freedom.
So if it can happen at an Edwards theater here in the Southern sector of the Peoples Republic (albeit Valencia is predominantly conservative) it can happen anywhere!
Good luck!

Thanks for providing the streaming video here for "Enduring Freedom - The Opening Chapter". I saw it twice, once this week on Hannity & Colmes, then again tonight on John Kasich's "Heartland" show on Fox News at 8PM ET. He played the video near the end of his show at about 8:50PM. Very well done, and brought tears to my eyes.
