Seems a bit early to make a judgement regarding the success on the war on terror. It ain't over till its over and until it is over we still will have opportunities to back out or give the perception of such.
Given the culpability of Saudi Arabia, Syria and Sudan and an apparent lack of perceived Iraqi terrorist activity or involvement many Americans (including conservatives) question the merits of attacking Iraq.
We all rationalize that Iraq will fall easily and maybe it will, but what if it doesn't? Either way our soldiers will be stationed well into spring and summer either fighting or occupying but definitely unable to wear protective clothing.
If I were a soldier, I would already be demoralized by the prospect of going over there on account of the Pentagon's chicken*&!@ attitude about Gulf War Syndrome.

"In other words our enemies perceived that we were a divided and confused nation."Just heard a report on Fox News, Islam is the fastest growing religion in America today.
The religion of peace, maybe the religion that appeals to American fringe groups like the mentally ill and criminally insane, etc. etc.
