The key part is to take the high road on reform.
TRUTH IN TAXES by requiring all head taxes be shown on the payroll stub of the employee including the employeer share of unemployement and all taxes. When the working guy realizes how much he pays in taxes, he'll care more about those taxes and relate better to others who complain about paying too much in taxes.
On every front we should play offense, propose more than we expect to get and then compromise by only getting half of what we asked for. We need to move the ball our direction.
President Bush and Congressional Republicans should reject any talk of bi-partisanship from the Democrats.
Not flatly, see the following...
When Democrats controlled the Senate they bottled up President Bushs Judicial Nominees, the energy bill and 70 other bills that where passed by the Republican Controlled House.
Please consider that many of the bills passed by the 'Republican controlled House' did not have a majority of Democrats voting for them. The essence of bi-partisanship.
The only bi-partisanship that Democrats believe in is that it either their way or the highway and now that they are back in the minority, Republicans need to hand them the map and car keys.
Agreed. Which is why I believe a little wrenching is in order, but I just don't think that denying them any input is worthwhile.
Note: This is one post of very few that I've ever posted without reading the whole thread to make sure my thoughts haven't been already communicated. I hope my thoughts are unique, but not unique :o)
It's called catching more flies with honey than with vinegar. :)
As to Lott, I have ongoing doubts about him. He was going to postpone the Homeland Security Bill (which bill makes me itchy, I don't like it) until the new Congress, but George W. sank spur in his butt and took him over a five bar gate so to speak.
Orin Hatch may be legally qualified as a Supreme Court judge, but I think he is the intellectual brother of David Souter.
