The much-hyped "college tour" showdown at Albany Downtown was promoted for weeks by Matthews and MSNBC as "a one-on-one with the senator from New York." The show -- and the "senator" -- were not as advertised, however.
Unfortunately for America, the only visible adversary at the SUNY access-journalism extravaganza was a free press. MSNBC trumpeted clinton as Zogby-polled presidential timber: "Always finishes a strong second to Gore." (A patent disqualifier if ever there was one, if you ask me.)
Notwithstanding this obvious lapse in logic, one wonders where and when Zogby collected its data, According to the most recent relevant poll, which was conducted by the Marist Institute last month -- and according to the results of this month's election, nary a soul wants hillary clinton back in the West Wing.
In her new book, Political Fictions, Joan Didion indicts the fakery of access journalism practiced by vacant politicos like the clintons, whom she sees as "purveyors of fables of their own making, or worse, fables conceived by political strategists with designs on votes, not news." The smartest woman in the world would relish "the raucous give and take of American democracy," as Charles Kuralt once put it. She would not be reduced to packing audiences and.flacking reporters.
By continuing to confuse "strident" with "presidential," clinton once again demonstrated the ease with which she fails to exceed minimal performance parameters. Lawless to the core, she managed to turn nature's abhorance of a vacuum on its head, clogging the airwaves with standard-issue clinton claptrap.
REVERSIBLE TRANSMUTATIONS...
This collegiate meeting of the minds, so to speak, managed to elevate nothing but access journalism, raising it to historic new heights. Not content with this dubious achievement, Chris Matthews decided to become hillary clinton's full-fledged advocate the following day when it became clear that the softball interview did not go quite as planned; clinton's limitless vengeance and limited intellectual dexterity unwittingly, and much to her political disadvantage, reversed the Matthews transmutations: softballs were transformed to hardballs with each clumsy move and cheap shot.
OLD SCORES TO SETTLE...
No answer exposed clinton's cognitive flat-footedness or her thirst for revenge more than her comment about President Bush's motivation to oust Saddam: " I mean it is clear that a lot of people in this administration have some old scores to settle...with Saddam Hussein."

Oh yes, he did ask the obligatory "Will you run for president in '04?" question no less than three (3) times as is apparently required for access to hillary clinton.
A variant of the "When did you stop beating your wife?" complex-question type of fallacy, the clinton "infrastructure" requires media myrmidons of the left to ask hillary clinton this question no less than three (3) times per "interview," operating on the theory that the implicit question ("Why in the world would the zipper-hoisted wife of an impeached utter failure ex-president be qualified to be president anyway?") will be rendered, if not moot, certainly disremembered.
A subset of the CLINTON-WAS-AN-UTTER-FAILURE Containment Team Scheme , the clinton "infrastructure" complex-question fallacy scheme is intended to confer legitimacy on an otherwise loony concept: Another clinton--uh--presidency.

I want this on a T-shirt so that I may wear it out and about.
I expect others may feel the same. And altho it is probably too harsh (even if true) for the RNC to promote, it is NOT too harsh for folks like me who believe that clinton's fiddling is directly responsible for 3000 people dying at the hands of osama bin pig pen's brigade.
I know seeking the truth makes T-shirts. I own one. As well as a mug. He has made a business of providing quality work to FR'ers and others who seek out his stuff. (You remember Gene-he was the original Florida Free Republic Air Force captain! Back when we flew our banners off small planes!)
And Jim Rob and group also sold Free Republic gear-with the name Free Republic labeled on the merchandise-to help defray costs. I have a free republic hat-which my dog as a puppy enjoyed ruining, but which I still wear when feeling patriotic.
I wonder-would you be adverse to this graphic being used in either manner-with the addition of President Bush's name attributed to his quote (so no one would think the ridiculous-that billy klinton might have said it)?
I would like to own this. A poster would be good, a T-shirt to wear around would be even better. Especially if and when her heinous attempts her assault on our highest office.

Wonderful posts as usual Mia! Earlier today, a thread discussed a self-portrait hanging in the Gore home that Tipper painted. She's buck-nekked and eight months pregnant. It took a bit of searching, but after finding it, I felt obligated to include here for your entertainment and possible incorporation into a future post.
It's a wonder her children don't have nightmares.

Al Gore, who is the best-known Democrat who might run for president in 2004, is viewed unfavorably today by a ratio of almost two to one, despite a weeklong bath of favorable publicity that accompanied his national tour promoting two new books about the American family. Nearly two-thirds of all respondents, including just over 50 percent of Democrats, said that Mr. Gore should step aside and allow someone else to run against Mr. Bush.... The findings about Mr. Gore would seem unwelcome news to the former vice president and his advisers as he begins what he describes as a final round of deliberations about another run for the presidency. If he chooses to run, he faces what he described in an interview last week as a virtually start-from-scratch round of fund-raising calls, which could be complicated by a perception that he is a weakened candidate. The poll was taken just as Mr. Gore was riding a wave of nationwide publicity as part of his book promotion tour. Even Mr. Gore's potential rivals predicted that the exposure would improve his standing among the American people. So far, that appears not to be the case. Just 19 percent said they held a favorable view of the former vice president, compared with 43 percent who had an unfavorable view. The unfavorable rating is among his worst since The New York Times/CBS News Poll began asking the question about him in 1987. Men are more likely than woman to dislike Mr. Gore. The unfavorable perception of Mr. Gore crossed party lines: about one-third of Democrats viewed him favorably, compared with about one-fifth who viewed him unfavorably. Of potentially more concern to Mr. Gore, just 17 percent of independent voters said they had a favorable opinion of him, compared with 36 percent who described their view as unfavorable.  "I know that Gore is going around now in all these public places and trying to establish an agenda, but I don't believe he can," said Phyllis Snyder, 68, a Democrat from Summit, Ark. "I just don't believe he can win. I think people are tired of Al Gore. I don't they want Al Gore. " In another follow-up interview, Wayne Denson, 75, a Democrat and retired optician from Kansas City, Mo., said: "I voted for him to start with but now that Bush got elected, I'd rather vote for Bush than Gore. Hillary Clinton tried to pressure MSNBC producers to give her a list of his questions ahead of time. "Right up until five minutes before the show her staff people were begging for the questions," Matthews told radio host Don Imus Thursday morning. "I don't know whether that was her deal with (David) Letterman or what," the TV talker complained, referring to Mrs. Clinton's appearance two years ago on CBS's "Late Show," where producers actually did give her a list of questions beforehand. For his show, Matthews insisted, "There were no deals." He sounded somewhat stunned that Sen. Clinton's would presume he would rig the interview and help her cheat. "The idea that you can wait till the last minute and then come in and say, 'Well, what are all the questions?' - we weren't gonna do it," he told Imus. The "Hardball" host said he didn't understand why Clinton's staffers persisted in demanding a heads-up right up until airtime, telling Imus, "I don't know what she was gonna do with five or ten minutes. Maybe (she'd) get on the phone if she didn't know something, or (she thought) I was gonna jump her or something or do an Inchon landing on her secret plans or something."
