How are they going to authenticate to the buyer that the grass is what they say it is? I could take some grass from my lawn in Buffalo, say it came from OSU stadium and try to sell it on e-bay too. That doesn't mean someone is going to buy it.

There might have been cross words and verbal threats after an OU-OSU

The rivalry between Oklahoma and Nebraska has always had a gallant aspect. We really respected Devaney and Tom Osbourne.

And 'violence' at the Bedlam series with the Oklahoma Aggies (OSU Cowboys) was generally limited to name calling (such as "Moo U" and "Silo Tech" for the Aggies, "Tea Sippers" for OU).

As an OSU grad, I can say with first hand experience that most of the violence, vandalism, and mayhem occurs off-campus, after dark, and by non-student locals (young punks, gangs, etc.) who use the games as an oppportunity to wreck havoc (and loot) the city.

When I was there, we would read the names of those arrested the day after and almost 90% were not OSU students. Think "Rodney King beating" syndrome.

My friend sold a can of baked beans, a piece of a baseball bat, an empty coke can and many other worthless things on ebay. He tried to sell two used Q-Tips, a used Band-Aid and some used cotton balls in a sandwhich bag on Ebay, and the bidding went up to $6.48 cents before Ebay suspended his auction and wrote him a nasty email.

Your information on John Cooper is only partially correct. I know John and like him. He had a good win-loss percentage but had trouble with Michigan (which is not good). But this is not the reason he lost his job.

The unfortunate truth is that John lost control of his team and that cost him the job. They were not going to classes, were flunking out, and the head coach did not know it, or at least did not fix the problem. The discipline was poor and it showed both on and off the field. Many players were acting like hooligans (i.e., fights, public intoxication, vandalism, etc.). On the fields, there were taunting penalties, and way too many personal fouls and unsportsman like conduct penalties.

hey are too stupid to recognize that liberty requires hard work and self-restraint.

I hope I didn't come off as some "holier-than-thou" moralist from off the plains.

And these radical outbursts happen at just about every geographic location.

But I guess that some folks just don't get the idea that making a mess of things
makes things unpleasant for other folks.

Maybe these rowdy-types didn't get the benefit of a two-year hitch in the US military,
where they'd learn that when one person in the group screws up, everyone
else pays the price (and are NOT happy with the screw-up).

Maybe the miscreants should be sentenced to watch the "midnight revenge"
episode in "Full Metal Jacket" with the "Pvt. Pyle" character...and told that
when they riot after a sports event, they are just as screwed up.

Hmmm...wonder if some American males would be more ashamed to have their
arrest for rioting publically announced...than for solicitiing prostitution.
Now maybe there is something to think about, law enforcement types...

Man, I know this will sound hokey...but I really do miss those annual Thanksgiving-time
games between OU and Nebraska.

It wasn't good vs. evil...it was good testing itself against good in order
to peaceably reach a higher plane.

I was never athletic, but those contests taught me what I think the ancient Greeks were
trying to find with their Olympic games...a rational, productive path for the
expenditure of human energy and aggression...without warfare.

OK, I'm ready for the flames.
But, even with the negative aspects of collegiate football (graduation without
reading skills, a la Dexter Manely), I do think that collegiate athletics is a
good part of the scene.

Oh, except for that Title IX crap.

Yep, same experience there...and I live "between the camps" as I grew up on
OU football, but have a diploma with an Orange and Black Oklahoma State U. stamp on it.

I do recollect that ARMY of folks in red and white (Nebraska fans) arriving in
Stillwater.
A nicer bunch of sports enthusiasts you'll never find.
That's why I, for one, am NOT happy at the current travails of Nebraska football.
