Mexico to campaign to legalize workers
11/23/02
MEXICO CITY -- Mexico's foreign minister, Jorge Castaneda, said his country would begin a "bottom-up campaign" to win U.S. public support for a proposal to legalize 3.5 million undocumented Mexican workers in the United States.
Castaneda said Mexican officials will begin rallying unions, churches, universities and Mexican communities.
"What's important is that American society sees a possible migratory agreement in a positive light," Castaneda said. "We are already giving instructions to our consulates that they begin propagating militant activities -- if you will -- in their communities."
It's not completely bad yet ----but Fox has done little in Mexico to bring about the changes they need so badly. Corruption still rules, drug lords still run the country --worse than ever. Crime is exploding in much of Mexico, the society is unraveling quickly. Fox can only be a one term president (they only allow one term) and the term is 6 years. I think there will be upheavals about the time the next elections come.
Sneaking into the country ought to be a first-degree felony. By the way, it's not only illegal to be in the U.S. without permission, but it's also illegal to work here.
He/She should clean your toilet for free, I surmise.
Was this guy cleaning crappers, Dane? Illegal aliens are a blight, and they need to be relocated to whence they came. Period.
So it's too much for you to clean your house or pay a legal citizen enough money to do it for you, therefore its a good idea to let the third world overrun us. It's cheap, lazy ba$tard$ like you that are leading us to ruin.
His(Fox's) game is Mexican politics and Mexican politics is in a state of flux after 80 years of PRI(socialist/marxist) rule.
Things are not going to change overnight in Mexico, no matter how much you want to wish so.
Of course you could take the Clinton tact of doing nothing or you could do the Bush tact of trying to do something.
Of course the give and take of the Bush tact will make you mad because he is giving "concessions" to those evil Mexicans, while in fact he is actually trying to address the issue.
I personally have held a low view of you Fitz since you went ape sh*t over Tony Sanchez(defeated dem candidate for Gov. in Texas) saying he was going to win in a landslide.
Earth to Fitz, the Bush tact won over the Fitz tact.
You're right, we are spoiled as hell.
I run my own business and am busy as hell this time of year . It tends to slow way down in the summer, I would have no qualms at all swinging a hammer for $100 a day. In my area (Florida) that's impossible to do because contractors can get an illegal to do it for half that.
If things got really bad, I'd pick vegetables or dig ditches. I don't give a crap, I'm in good shape and don't mind hard work (even though my line of work is tecnology).
Kids are getting screwed also. When I was in high school, all my friends took jobs doing construction, remodling, putting in fences ... whatever. If you were good, eventually you moved up the ladder, aquired skills and started your own business or ran jobs. Nowadays, criminal foriegners get all those jobs.
You've been good on this rintense. Keep singing, your country needs you.
Whew, you just allied yourself with the socialist Canadian, who called Bush a "moron".
Keep on posting, I get out of the way of lightning rods, such as yourself.
The problem resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
"Surrender" according to sarcasm's Buchanan/Tancredo like view.
Pragmatism and addressing a vital issue to others on FR.
Of course on DU, the DUuher's, look on sarcasm's view as the "textbook" view, of the right, which is the most convienent view to attack, and rightly so, IMHO.
If I ever had the honor to be President, it would not be to address and pander the immigration issue to blowhards(i.e evil Mexicans are behind every door) like you.
I would try to recognize that Mexico shares a 2000 mile border with the US and try to demantle the hard leftists in Mexico and that their system for 80 years has failed and to give the free market a try.
Of course that policy would tried to be blocked by those who see all Mexians as "evil" by their birth.
And "pragmatic" hyperbole seems to be a sarcasm trait.
Oh well I will take the "Bush" trait over the "sarcasm" trait anyday.
It must really irk you that the Bush trait is winning.
In other words, IMO, Bush wins an election, sarcasm loses his mind like daschle, pelosi, and last of all least buchanan.
