Operation Infinite FReep in Fresno, California (11-22-02)

Tonight's FReep of the peaceniks in Fresno, CA was the best one ever! Once again, ninety-eight members (!) of the youth group of the Assembly of God church in Riverdale, Ca joined the nine FReepers who were able to attend tonight's rally. What wonderful young people they are! They spread out onto the three corners of Fresno's busiest intersection that the peaceniks weren't using, and when the peaceniks left, they took over their corner as well. They brought flags and hand made signs with them and they shouted "USA, USA, USA" and cheered every time someone drove by and honked.
That said, I have to say that the verdict is in --- Fresno, California stands firmly behind the troops and President Bush! If you all could have heard the honking and supportive remarks tonight from those driving by! It was absolutely awesome and knocked our socks off at times!
After the church group joined us tonight, Chadsworth called one of our local television stations and said, "Hey I was just driving by the corner of Shaw and Blackstone in Fresno and there are a bunch of people standing out on the street. What's up?" And they said they would send someone out to find out what was happening. Pretty soon they showed up with cameras and all, and they went from corner to corner and filmed the patriots who were celebrating living in the greatest country on earth. They also interviewed Jim Rob. I think they were from Channel 24. I don't get local television where I live, so those who do will have to fill us in after the nightly news in on at 11 o'clock.
Flags were waved tonight, cheers were led over a bull horn, and all around, a great time was had by all!
The Freepers who were able to attend tonight's rally were:
- Jim, Chris, and Sheila Robinson
- JustAmy and her husband
- JKPhoto and Mama_Bear
- Chadsworth
- Mtngrl@vrwc
Also present was Miguel, who attends every week I think. Thanks Miguel!
To those who were able to come tonight, thanks! We missed those who were unable to attend and hope you can make it next week.

Oh, that's too bad. Yes, we saw it. It was on 24 and 47. Just short clips, but nice to see our flags flying on the news. I hope the kids got to see themselves on TV. They were having such a great time. :-)

The wave files are great Thanks, it's fun to be able to capture the sounds on the street. The pictures only tell half the story. I had no idea that my husband's camera could record wav files. What will they think of next? LOL

Yeah strange. So how many ventured out to Freeper Island to keep mtngrl company?
I was so glad to hear that we were going to have company tonight! This sure makes up for last week when we were outnumbered for the first time in I don't know how long.

Thanks. We play a wide variety of music at our FReeps. Anything from the traditional patriotic songs and traditional American folk songs, to songs from the WWII era, lots of Oldies but Goodies and Country & Western, even some really moldy stuff from the '30s. Tonight was mostly military bands.
Along with their signs and American flags, the Riverdale group brought flags from all branches of our Armed Forces. They waved the flags and cheered and marched and charged from corner to corner. Hah! Their standing orders were to take and hold all the territory they possibly could. And they did! All four corners!
I'll tell you I had a lump in my throat for most of the evening. I'm still charged up. I love this group!
