WASHINGTON - The government could not find nearly half the 4,112 registered immigrants to whom the government wanted to talk following the Sept. 11 attacks, according to a report issued Thursday.
The General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress, found that the Immigration and Naturalization Service didn't have the current addresses of nearly 2,000 resident aliens.

That's the easy, catch-all answer to everything, yes.

Lets see, if we don't fine them more we can't waste the time to find them.
Can anyone else see the problems with this?

I thought, hey, maybe we ought to have them have to check in periodically - like folks that are on parole. But then, if they failed to check in the govt is apparently helpless to do anything about it like deport them - hell they can't even find them. It is so obviously out-of-control yet no one in govt wants to admit it. I say close the borders at the very least until the govt can get a grip on the situation.

Just put a bounty on illegal (sorry migraging) aliens that would be worth my time and I could round up 2 or 3 hundred within a 2 mile radius of my home.
That would only take a couple of hours.
We can and should blame the INS, but we whould also blame the American's that hire them.
No I-9, no job, but the people who are hiring and paying them are cheating all other Americans. They are side dancing the law, collecting income and FICA taxes from the illegals and not reporting or sending them in.
That is why a national sales tax has to be the only possible tax for our country.
It is also why our nation borders have to be closed NOW.

Maybe the drill should start with them attempting to locate those hundreds of computers and firearms that are missing...

Under the Homeland Security Bill, the INS was abolished.

They are not even looking and have no intention of doing so. Would be nice to get paid for not doing your job.

Would that be just you or you and a few of your friends against 2 or 3 hundred illegals?

With the correct motivation, "Bounty", just kinda stroll around the neighborhood, get the illegals, mowing the grass, getting the illegals building the houses, cleaning the houses, and baby sitting the youngin's.
Round em up sit'em down call the INS, collect my bounty.
Of course they will just turn them loose. Toooo busy to protect our borders.
Sorry, I have no friends except for those here on FR.
Just call me the Lone Ranger.

Suggest that you don't try rounding them up with a lasso. They might take it the wrong way.

Why don't they put a price on their heads? Would be a good way to put some of our money back into the economy. Of course, the government would go broke with so many of them to catch. The United States is becoming less of an orgainized country with law and order and more of just an occupied territory. You can't even trust people to be legal citizens anymore. What kind of law and order is this? Our government is slowly snuffing us out.

After you're done rounding them all up, could you also finish mowing those lawns, building those houses, and raisin' those younguns? Thanks.

The 1 year Plan to an Illegal Alien Free America:
1.) Within the context of the unified Homeland Security Department, retask INS, Border Patrol, and any and all resources associated with WOD to Immigration and Border Control;
2.) Apply asset forfeiture and criminal penalties to business and individuals that hire illegal aliens. Illegals will be deported immediately and any and all assets seized. Allow this revenue from asset seizure and forfeiture to fund local jurisdictions that coordinate with Federal Immigration and Border Control efforts from DHS. Structure a TIPS civilian Alien Alert System that coordinates with the local jurisdictions to provide intelligence on illegal alien. Start on a county-by-county basis with the prosecution efforts.
3.) Announce this reorganization and retasking in PSA's in a broad media sweep. Specify a 90 day noncompliance grace period before enforcement from Local and Federal Agents begins with zero-tolerance for any violations.
In the first 90 days after such a reorg and announcement, 50-70% of the illegal aliens would break for the borders. Use the other 270 days in a massive coordinated effort at the local/state and federal levels.
Violá.
