Osama bin Laden uses the Islamic faith to justify his nationalist, anti-Western political agenda.
It is an old religious ploy, one that Muslims were on the receiving end of during the Crusades.
Pope Urban II used love of Jesus and hatred of Muslims to motivate his troops at the beginning of the Crusades. Urban actually called Muslims "infidels."
Political leaders often wear religious disguises and exploit hatred in pursuit of their goals.
This brings me to the leaders of the religious right in this country.

Is it worth it? I would rather just batten the hatches and prepare for the storm, almost.
Talking/debating/speaking seems to do no good anymore, words mean nothing to these screwed up people.
tg (feeling somewhat pessimistic/defeatist today...) Oh TG, it's always worth it to try and strike a blow for right, no matter how small it seems at the time!!!
It's the little actions that people like you are willing to take a few minutes to do!
That's what makes the difference.
Along with (of course) the big stuff that that those who can, do!

Well, I took a little heat for a few minutes but it was well worth it. Lot's of people saw a liberal for the stinking liar he is, and more than a few people wrote the editor of the paper.
I guess that's what I see Freerepublic as being all about, letting people know about things like that and giving them the information needed to take action.
That's what Freerepublic did for me. :-)

Thanks- spelling mistakes are everywhere in that post but when I get heated up I just let it flow.

What a brave man to write this article! Comparing Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson to Muslem Terrorists! How insightful!
He really went out on a limb here didn't he? Attacking Christians is just so brave- it is never done in the media or our culture. What a contrarion writer and original thinker!
I am sure he will be toast of his oh so liberated fellow thinkers not brave enought to bash Falwell (that has never been done before.) Maybe that collosal intellect of the Left, Larry Flynt, will invite him to dinner!I enjoyed that! Thanks for posting it.:-)

I never even noticed, the sarcasm was so brilliantly biting.
I make the same kind of mistakes in my posts. I get all fired up about it, and that's all she wrote. What a shame for a former school teacher like myself!
In fact, when I spell checked this, it had two mistakes!

*sigh* I know, I know.... :-) Thanks. It just seems so futile in the end. I know it is right to stand up for truth, even if that means being shot down in the end. What counts is whether or not one stood up for it.
To: Jael
I just can't think of anything to say when I'm in this kind of mood that the guy couldn't twist into proving his point.

I suspected a writer. Keep up the good work. :-)

Correction, TLBSHOW
Islam is the enemy of every non-Moslem in the world.

lol i bet he's pretty interesting looking!
I have a 75 lb mostly airedale mix. I am looking at getting a Welsh terrier next. a rough coated jack russell is on my agenda too but not until I have more TIME (when kids are older etc.). I also would like to get a Border Terrier. But I would be happy with anything that has facial furnishings. I am a sucker for a fuzzy face and a spunky attitude!

I kind of think of it in the terms that PUSH email that has circulated around the net, especially when I don't see any progress.

Mohammed was a slaver, a pedophile, and a murderer who advocated death or enslavement for all who would not follow his "religion".
I've wracked my brains and cannot think of any founders of religions that have similar credentials. I can think of a lot of lots of tyrannical despots who do though.
Journalists need to track a history book once in a while.

I understand about not seeing any progress. And we may not. It may just get worse and worse.
Maybe I will have one of those days, and you will be the one to encourage me!!
Loved the pups!!!

A week after 9/11- when it was safe to be funny again. John Stuart of "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central had a line that went like this: "After what happened last week (meaning 9/11 and the thousands of deaths) I think I and comedians everywhere owe an apology to "Christian Fundamentalists" everywhere. It was met with a resounding applause from the audience.
