Osama bin Laden uses the Islamic faith to justify his nationalist, anti-Western political agenda.
It is an old religious ploy, one that Muslims were on the receiving end of during the Crusades.
Pope Urban II used love of Jesus and hatred of Muslims to motivate his troops at the beginning of the Crusades. Urban actually called Muslims "infidels."
Political leaders often wear religious disguises and exploit hatred in pursuit of their goals.
This brings me to the leaders of the religious right in this country.

I guess we'll have to pay reparations for the Crusades.

Urban actually called Muslims "infidels." Well, golly, gee whiz, that sure wasn't very nice of him.
To: Jael
Muslims kill 3000 in NYC and thousands more around the world.
Christians tell people about it.
Hence they are the same in the writer's eyes.

I read it and I'm highly offended that I, as a Christian, am put in the same light as Muslim terrorists.
Sorry.....doesn't fly with anyone, other than a die-hard liberal.

The article makes some good points; the headline is moronic. When's the last time you heard of a band of Christians hijacking airplanes and leveling skyscrapers? But columnists don't write their own headlines.

OMG. This idiot has no idea what the Crusades were about, does he?
To: Jael
Saw this one coming. The article is so devoid of logic and reason that I don't even know where to begin.

One more time: Muslims had CONQUERED, by the sword, upwards of half of Spain (i.e. in EUROPE) before the evil, vile, insidious (note heavy sarcasm) drove them back.
Nothing like a good ol' white wash of history to start your day.

I fear what will happen in this country after the next terrorist attack. So do I, but I don't think it's for the same reasons that this bed-wetter does...

Nor does Christianity condone and advocate outright violence, the way Islam expressly does in the Koran.

Saw this one coming. The article is so devoid of logic and reason that I don't even know where to begin It's so devoid of relevance to experience that I didn't even begin. It's time to REACT forcefully as the Crusaders of old were forced to do.

The Crusades were in response to Muslim terror back than, just like whats happening today. History does repeat itself. Surrender or die !

If our country is torn apart by religious hatred it will be guys like this leading the way.
He reveals his real motives here:
But these people also run huge organizations that rely on contributions. They need a high profile. They don't do that by humbly engaging in quiet good deeds. They exploit turmoil. Fear and loathing is a lucrative fund-raiser.
The left has targeted Falwell and Robertson (Franklin Graham is a new addition) because they believe that destroying these men will lead to liberal triumph. (Notice who they're always defending: gays, feminists, etc..) They are going for what they see as the money and base of the enemy. Discredit conservative Christians (or at least shut them up), as they see it, and the Republican party is over.
THAT is all this is about.
