Farmer drowns in cow manure lagoon

Hey Granny, people need to realize that farming can be a very dangerous business. I have heard of numerous stories of little children drowning in lagoons. This is the first I've heard of like this. First, the cab on that tractor is going to be fairly high off the ground level. On many Deeres that's going to be about six to eight feet off the ground. The cab is going to be another six feet high. I have a hard time imagining a lagoon being so deep that it would cover the top of the cab. Second, the cab is not that small. How could this young man "drown" in the cab in such a short amount of time.

Terrible tragedy for this family.

Relatives and farm workers tried to rescue Winner before emergency workers arrived, but they could not get him out because of the force applied to the outside of the tractor cab by the liquid, according to the sheriff’s office.

Not sure about this one - he wasn't even submerged. Something smells here. This story stinks. Bullsh!t.

Earthern lagoons are routinesly 15-20 ft deep, depending on the diameter. There's some wierd mathamatical formula,, can't exactly recall.

THanks for finally clearifying where thes happened, in the last sentence. I thought it was France, then Florida and Fort Loramie, had me thinking Fort Laramie, Wyo. had been misspelled. There is no good place to die like that,(or anyother way for that matter.) but we now know it happened in Ohio.

Prayers and condolences to the deceased and his loved ones-thirty five is just way too young to die.

I don't know, we had a dairy farmer in our area who was ripped apart by a manure spreader and was spread over the field he tilled his whole life. Know one really knows what happened, but his son's found the tractor bucking up against the silo by itself and then they found the remains of their Father scattered in the field.

Interestinly enough. Most Muncipal Waste Lagoons are larger than the Agricultural ones.
