Notable No votes: Landrieu (gosh, Mary, looks like you really want to be defeated BIG TIME), ....Breaux.I suspect this means that the Louisiana Democrats have decided that it's more important to get out the base than to appeal to moderates. That is, the NAACP told them it wouldn't bus any dead people to the polls in December if Landrieu and Breaux voted for Shedd. This is becoming very predictable Democrat behavior and hopefully will continue to be decreasingly effective.
It would also fit the pattern if the Landrieu campaign (or its surrogates) went way negative -- with claims that Terrel's great uncle Fred was in the KKK in the 1920's, or that her cousin Buck said the "N" word in 1983, or similar revelations to prove that her election would be followed immediately by federally mandated racial segregation in tanning parlors.
My Cynicism Quotient does seem to be high tonight.

I really am surprised that Barkley and Breaux voted "no". That will forever rid me of any notion I had that John Breaux was a fairly decent human being. Zell Miller is the only democrat in this country (except Jim Cramer) who has any shred of decency.

This is a time for great joy in our Republic. A new Cabinet agency and bureaucracy has been created. The government has new police powers. A great conservative victory! Yeah Republicans!

Come next month, the difference between pond scum and Leahy will be that pond scum will have a much better view from its office than will Leahy!

I suggest a nicely aged Stilton.

Ready to fall off your chair? Next year, a Republican president will spell out plans for tax cuts, tax reform, tort reform, welfare reform, immigration and naturalization reform, decentralization of government services to states and local charities, banning partial birth abortion, a pro-market prescription drug benefit for seniors, exploration of resources in ANWR, prevention of child pornography and exploitation, and appointing constructionist judges and Congress will approve it all!

Not necessary as Talent can be sworn in even after they adjourn....
