It sounds like George Clooney is opposed to invading Iraq. When a London Observer reporter asked about Americas actions post 9/11, he replied:
We live on an island. A giant big f - - - ing island. We dont understand that people actually get mad at us. We still think of ourselves in terms of WW2. Its not uncommon for us to say to France, Hey, youd still be speaking German if it wasnt for us. The problem is the world has changed, and our involvement in these tiny little places is different than it was in 1941. It was a lot clearer then. We were attacked.

Is he using a metaphor or does he really believe we live on an island? That is exactly what I was going to ask. I've decided to be nice and tentatively go with metaphor...

Just in time for the upcoming premiere of his new movie. Great timing, George. I didn't want to check out your fanny anyway.

I gained a great deal of respect for Brad Pitt a few years ago when a giddy reporterett shoved a mike and a camera in his face and asked him his thoughts on some then current and weighty world issue. His response was "Why the hell are you asking me? I'm just a f**king actor."

Yeah, 'Course 9/11 was something of an attack. But I agree that waiting for Iraq, Iran, etc, to get nukes may not be real smart.

Someone said the Brits arrested a couple of Arabs this week who were planning a poison gas attack on the London subway.
Nothing to worry about, eh, George ?

The problem is the world has changed, and our involvement in these tiny little places is different than it was in 1941. It was a lot clearer then. We were attacked.Classic Freudian slip. It is now clear to me that those two towers were just as much symbolic of Hollywood's true enemy as representative of muslim hate.To the leftist elitists, THEIR COUNTRY wasn't attacked, the enemy was.

We live on an island. A giant big f - - - ing island. We dont understand that people actually get mad at us. A metaphor, I presume. Can't say this is untrue.
We still think of ourselves in terms of WW2. Its not uncommon for us to say to France, Hey, youd still be speaking German if it wasnt for us.
Somewhat true. I see this posted here almost every day.
The problem is the world has changed, and our involvement in these tiny little places is different than it was in 1941.
Very true, and too many people refuse to understand this.
It was a lot clearer then. We were attacked.
I assume he means by another country in 1941, as opposed to islamic terrorists from here and there. I'd have to say he is correct. It was much clearer then.
All in all, much better than the typical drivel that comes out of the hollywood elite.

I guess because a plane didn't hit Hollywood CA he doesn't *feel* like he has been attacked. It just didn't come close enough to affect him in any way. (just trying to understand where this lame brain is coming from)

The problem is that the media feeds on controversy and the only place to get it is from well-known though idiotic folks like Clooney, Striesand and the like.
He opinions about politics are as much value as mine about brain surgery!

George should concern himself with his own upcoming bombing. Namely 'Solaris'.
