I have a question- I have been reading Free Republic for sometime and I have a few things that confuse me-
What does "ping" mean?
What does "IMHO" mean?
What does "bump" mean?

I am not stupid I just don't know what these mean and I would really like to know. Thanks! Taryn

At a Hutchinson rally in Bentonville, Arkansas, on election eve, Bush discreetly jettisoned his standard warmp-up lines extolling Candidate X as a "good man" who, like the president, had "married above himself."

Ah, well. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about Hutchinson. Now we're stuck with Pryor, and it may well be for the long term.

What does "ping" mean? It means to call the attention of the people addressed to an article that may interest them.

What does "IMHO" mean? In my humble opinion. Standard net usage.

What does "bump" mean? It means giving your approval to the thread by adding to the number of replies.

"Ping" just means you are alerting certain posters to a particular thread.

"IMHO" means "in my humble opinion."

"Bump" or sometimes "BTTT" is used to draw attention to the thread because each time someone responds, it shows up on latest posts.

Hope this helps, and welcome to FR. I didn't have a clue what anything meant either so don't sweat it.

Seems to me that Hutchinson probably got what he deserved. He should know better. Only democrats can pretend to be virtuous and then dump their wife for a trophy wife and get away with it. Republicans can't do that.

Still, having to swallow the Pryor pill is a bit tough to do!

Character matters! (Something the Democrats will never understand.)

Whoops! I just noticed I typed the headline wrong. It should read "When Bush Came to Shove" instead of "When Bush Come to Shove".

Admin Mod...can you fix that?

Is the James Rosen who wrote this the same James Rosen who is a Fox News Channcel White House correspondent?

But respect for Bush's effectiveness - especially for his unique blend of Texan tact, directness, and humor - seems to be growing, even among White House correspondents.

Most of them hide any respectful feelings quite well, especially the troll "unfriendly repoter" mentioned at the end.

Great article! Thanks for posting it ..... :-)

Thanks for the ping. Its good to see that some in the press are beginning to "get" this President. Who knows, before long they might catch up with the rest of America...... Naaaaah.

Yeah, I laughed out loud at the one. Helen Thomas unfriendly? YES. A reporter? Maybe when Lincoln was shot.

Jaded and bored, we pounced on the gaffes and yawned at the platitudes.

Hard to believe anyone is even mentioning verbal gaffes after what this President has already done for this country!

Oh, well......at least they're beginning to figure things out.

And, oh yes...I can vouch for the fact that he cuts a 'neat, muscular' figure! One might even say, dashing! :o)
