She's just following her programming. We have liberal robots in the US as well. There isn't much hope they'll ever come to life. We just have to ignore them.
Maybe you can try this idea with your friend, and it'll resonate with her!
Except that Bin Laden et al started their war when Clinton was president (who was not particularly active against them). Except that they don't care who is president so long as they can kill him. Except that what they are about has nothing to do with any American policy so long as the American polity and that Israel and the (post) Christian West is destroyed.
I have a friend that has similar views. Whenever he complains about the American government and the job Bush is doing I tell him to move out of the country. His reply?
"Living in another country having to deal with American foreign policy is even worse"
Some people you just can not reach!!!!!
I have some liberal friends who take the same point of view that she does. It's not that they don't understand, it's that they don't want to understand.
Mean, bad people are "us" rather than "them" because, after all, it is easier to deal with us instead of them. So if we just pretend that all of the world's problems are because of our own internal politics we can just vote probelms away. That would be a safer and less scary world.
The Lefties want to live in a safe world so badly that they would give up their safty to preserve the illusion of a safe world.
She's gone native.
What I mean is that she's gone native in the context of the (non-military) expat community. NGOs, charities, journos, church groups. All infested by leftie America haters. To "survive" in such an environment, you're either constantly deferring to political discussions ("I don't have any political opinions") or simply mouthing the phrases of these people as an automated response.
Personally, when working overseas I found myself being constantly grilled about American foreign policy by leftie Americans, Brits, Germans, and French, sometimes in a fairly aggressive manner. I'd try to defer, but if they kept it up I'd apprise them of things like 1776, WWI, and WWII.
I even said "Seig Heil" once to a German who was ranting about Americans being "controlled by the Jews." He'd spent enough time around Americans to know he'd crossed the line.
