My wife votes republican, but she watches Oprah all the time. That is a good example of stupid Americans, who folows the herd. Now, if I am so far to the right, and constantly screaming against Oprah and am getting no results; what are you going to do about people who are politically passive, or independent, or Demoncrats, or six grade-college-educated type?

As far as my "tune" I actually prefer this one, from our nation's Founders: "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."

See, each of these guys was a man of means, with lots to lose...yet their courage and faith enabled them to put it all on the line for the cause they believed in—our beloved Country!

Their tune was freedom and liberty, not 'country'. Let's include the whole paragraph, please: We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by the Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. Bin Laden's a psychotic misanthrope and a wild-eyed whacko. A worthless, execrable excuse for a human being. Why should we worry about understanding him? All we need to do is utterly defeat him!

I concur he's a psychotic misanthrope, but I do not agree that there is no reason to understand his motivations, lest we forever be beset by 'psychotic misanthropes'. He is attacking the U.S. because the U.S. is annually purchasing Jimmy Carter's Nobel prize by funnelling American tax dollars in the form of military equipment to Israel and Egypt. He is attacking the U.S. because our troops occupy his homeland. If you saw foreign troops propping up a corrupt dictatorship in our home, wouldn't you oppose them? What is your basis for supporting the decision of U.S. politicians to involve America in centuries old disputes that do not involve us? Where would you have get in wars next? Africa?

I'll by the 1st paragraph and I do so because I know it works .

Yes the nation's of the Middle East do have designs upon this Republic they just do not have the material nor the human capital to do so . Instead they take little shots at us by proxy .

The reference you made to Stalin could be tied into the current ME dictators considering the religion that is promoted now is godless as is communism .

Lastly I am not in attack mode here with you . I simply told you how you came across to me in your reply .

Your consternation in your inability to "control" people's personal viewing choices is interesting. Is it freedom when "the herd" is "controlled" and forced to follow your preferred viewing habits?

Well, after the U.S. ditched Bin Laden as a proxy in the Cold War, who picked him up? Do you think he's working for Hussien, his own religious views, or someone else?

Several conflicts come to mind that were part of the overall strategy. Grenada (direct intervention), Nicaragua (indirect formation and support), Afghanistan (indirect formation and support), Angola (indirect formation and support). In each of the latter three you can be sure we had personnel on the ground at risk too...

Very interesting that you cite Monroe. Are you familiar with his Secretary of State, the author of the Monroe Doctrine? He spoke toward your ambitions very explicitly:

Israel is a worthy and decent little ally. Notice they're the only two-party democracy (hell, the only democracy, period!) in that part of the world? Our interests are clearly served in aiding and protecting Israel from the Philistine barbarians around her.

Israel also has the strongest military in the region in addition to nuclear weapons. She doesn't need the U.S. taxpayer to protect her. It has been the U.S. politicians restraining Israel. If you recall Reagan's administration joined the world in condemning them for their raid on Osirak...

Going abroad to slay monsters is quite necessary in this day and age Gunslingr3 . Granted and it is obvious the we have strayed so far away from the Constitution that goodness knows how we are going to back in line with the origional intent .

As for Isreal I think that is just alot of public postering going on . I believe away from the camera there are some very interesting thing's being spoken .

'slinger...Your challenge to folks, who declare their love for America & animosity for tyrants, to join our Armed Forces is disingenuous.
As you are well aware, it's impractical to think that any man or woman who voices their vehemence at Saddam can, or should, request a uniform.

Exclamatory remarks like Mud's made are a manifestation of his confidence, pride, & admiration of those in our Armed Forces who are now, or will be, fighting to defend the priciples of honor, freedom, & liberty.

I've a great-nephew in the Marine Corps & I'm certain he'd prefer the company of someone like Mud at a barstool beside him than one with a Carteresque mindset.
