Yes it was terrible what the priest did to him, and it is probably true that the priest led him down that path. That said, you are still responsible for your OWN actions. The priest didn't FORCE him to kill the woman. That is something he did on his own. He should stay in jail for it.

He should stay in jail. However, for those who continue to defer to Rome's inaction, this is the kind of destruction that will occur so long as there isn't wholesale laicization of abusers and of those hierarchs that sheltered them.

The message HAS to be sent to the remainder of those who serve - the knowledge that they will be begging for scraps out in the street if they do these things.
