Subject: Pro-Life Candidate Leads Louisiana Senate Race Source: Susan B. Anthony List; November 14, 2002 Pro-Life Candidate Leads Louisiana Senate Race Washington, DC -- The Susan B. Anthony List commissioned a survey on the Louisiana Senate race, which shows that pro-life candidate Suzanne Terrell currently enjoys an eight point advantage over incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu. The two are facing a run-off election for the U.S. Senate on December 7th. "Suzanne Terrell supports the reasonable pro-life measures that Louisiana, and the majority of America also supports," said Jane Abraham, the President of the Susan B. Anthony List. "We believe this is to her advantage, and that it will be demonstrated in the run-off election." Findings from the survey include: If the December run-off were held today, Suzie Terrell would garner 48% of the vote and Senator Landrieu would receive 40%. The 8 point Terrell advantage is outside of the 4.4% margin of error. Terrell performs much better with her party base than does Landrieu. Among registered Republican voters, Terrell acquires 72% of the vote compared to just 16% for Landrieu. With registered Democrats, though, Landrieu nets only 51%, while Terrell receives 42% of the vote. The survey was conducted by Wilson Research Strategies for the Susan B. Anthony List on November 10-12th. Wilson Research Strategies surveyed 503 likely run-off election voters in Louisiana. The margin of error for a study of this size is +/- 4.4% at the 95% confidence level. The Susan B. Anthony List and its connected PAC (SBA List Candidate Fund) works year-round to train pro-life activists and candidates, advocate the passage of pro-life legislation in Congress, dispel the myths about abortion, and increase the percentage of pro-life women in Congress.

Welcome aboard, and thank you for the info!

Hugh Hewitt mentioned the other day that a win here is important for several reasons, one of them being committe ratios. Apparently at 51-49, the GOP would only have a 1 seat majority on the committees, whereas 52-48 would net them an additional seat on certain key committees, including Judiciary.

I sent her a $20.00 check Sat. Doesn't sound like much. But If we all send her a little something it will amount to something big.

And it's important on a symbolic level. Republicans don't win US Senate seats in LA. To do so now would be a very positve sign.

Does this include the dead vote and the boxes in N.O. that will have 102% voter turnout?
To: Friend of Life
I saw them both today on Meet The Press and thought Terrell did very well.

Mrs Landrieu is having a hard time getting traction in a run-off, as she cannot use the control of the Senate as a galvanizing issue. Also, her base will not show up twice to the polls in an off-year election.

Very good point on the committee makeups. A Terrell win would top off a great election year for the good guys.

Yes, it would -- and would also compensate for the South Dakota mess.
It's very easy to send a contribution to her campaign. Took me about a minute after clicking on "donations" at her home page.

I was impressed with her in the debate before the election, too, she seemed the most articulate of the 4 involved.

"I saw them both today on Meet The Press and thought Terrell did very well."I agree. Candidate Terrell answered questions straight and stuck by her convictions...period!...without character attack or answering with a big, long evasion that isn't an answer.
Says what she believes and what she would (will) do as a Senator whether for or against President Bush, instead of the big "say one thing on M.T.P. and vote another way in the Senate"...

Does this include the dead vote and the boxes in N.O. that will have 102% voter turnout? You know that's why New Orleans buries their people ABOVE the ground, don't you? It makes it easier to get them to the polls.

I was very impressed with how she took on Landrieu in Russert debate. We need fewer Hillary Clinton comrades and a new Senator from Louisiana. So I just sent $20 too! Who's next ???

Thanks for the post. This is a reminder to do what one can to support Terrell (not a reason for overconfidence)!

Why vote for a member of the minority with rather low seniority, when the alternative is to vote for a member of the majority?

Any questions on Mrs Terrells pro life bona fides before I send her a samll contribution?
