Hmm. Most other Christians I know have no opinion on Potter, or don't mind it. I have known a few in RL who freak out like this. They tend to be the legalistic type who don't believe in having fun on Sundays.
I'm not sure I'd paint with such a broad brush, though. I'm Christian and I'm pretty sure God doesn't have a problem with me reading Harry Potter. If I ever think otherwise I'll stop reading them immediately.

Hi Jen, you said "They tend to be the legalistic type who don't believe in having fun on Sundays."
I was wondering if you knew what real legalism is? It is the religious doctrine that someone can be saved by keeping certain laws or doing certain works. It is a false doctrine.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Romans 4:1 ¶What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 For *if* Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,.......
Romans 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
