Well, I'm sure the good and kindly Senator Lott will find some way to be a graceful coward and let the RATS have their way again.

On the other hand, some key Democrats are said to be worried that a quick confirmation of Shedd would anger the NAACP and other African-American groups that strongly oppose the nomination.

As I understand it, Shedd has an excellent reputation among blacks in his state who know him. The people who currently head the NAACP are not truly representative of blacks, any more than the people who head NOW are representative of American women. In other words, Shedd is not a racist. Rather, these organizations hate anyone who is conservative or pro-life.

As you can see from THIS article on the same subject, the DEMS really do take their marching orders from the NYTimes!

The RATS will have my full attention as they drive themselves into a frenzy trying to placate all of their various fiefdoms. I will watch with great glee as they gnaw the tails and whiskers off of each other!

Either way, it seems like good news for Republicans, and Shedd will be confirmed next year at the latest anyhow.

This is absolutely infuriating! I heard some comments by Feinstein, Leahy & Edwards (I think) and you'd think to hear them tell it, Shedd is a Nazi. They accused him of hating African-Americans and being against civil rights. I thought this partisan stupidity would be behind us now but guess I was wrong. If the democraps want to lose even more power, let them keep this up. The American people have just about had it! For victory & freedom!!!

It is also an extraordinarily risky move politically. Some Democrats, apparently including Majority Leader Tom Daschle, are worried that a filibuster against Shedd could hurt the election prospects of Louisiana Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu, who faces a runoff election next month.

Go ahead Teddy. Keep digging.

The Dems are finally caught! To filibuster hurts Landrieu's chances as they once again are obstructionists. To not filibuster loses black support and that hurts Landrieu's chances. Bring on Senator #52!

What we should be watching for, however, are the extra 8 or 9 senators who we will need to get judges approved since the Dems are just going to be Daschle-led opppositionists. The people we need to stroke are (1)Miller, (2)Breaux, (3)Hollings (who, I think, in this case is a personal friend of Shedd), and who else?

Liberal senators like Massachusetts Democrat Edward Kennedy have long opposed Shedd, accusing him of being "insensitive" to the rights of minorities... Wasn't Mary Jo pregnant when Ted sent her for six? I'd say mister Kennedy is pretty insensitive to the minority of prenatal individual human beings, what with his championing of abortion and partial birth abortion.

The grand prize in politics is control of the judiciary. What motivates Leftist Sociocrats' hard line on judicial nominations? Old Tom Jefferson had some insights on that question: "The judiciary of the United States is the subtle corps of sappers and miners constantly working under ground to undermine the foundations of our confederated fabric. They are construing our constitution from a co-ordination of a general and special government to a general and supreme one alone. ... The germ of dissolution of our federal government is in the constitution of the federal Judiciary; ...working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief, over the field of jurisdiction, until all shall be usurped. "
