"Okay, e-mail just sent out to RNC:

As a registered Republican, I am very interested in becoming a "poll watcher" to prevent voter fraud at the 2004 elections. There are, however, several questions I have and would appreciate being provided information regarding the following:

1. What kind of "official RNC" training material is provided to state and local precincts for individuals interested in poll watching?

2. Where may this "official RNC" information be obtained from the RNC, other than through a local precinct?

3. To whom, at the national level of the RNC, may I direct further questions, i.e., who is the person or persons in charge of the compilation and dissemination of instruction materials/procedures pertaining to federal and state election laws?

I would appreciate your prompt attention to my questions. Thank you for your time.

"Sun Tzu Say..."

"If one gains victory in battle and is successful in attacks, but does not exploit those achievements, it is disastrous. This is called waste and delay. Therefore, I say the wise general thinks about it, and the good general executes it. If it is not advantageous, do not move; if there is no gain, do not use troops; if there is no danger, do not do battle. The ruler may not move his army out of anger; the general may not do battle out of wrath. If it is advantageous, move; if it is not advantageous, stop."

"Those angry will be happy again, and those wrathful will be cheerful again, but a destroyed nation cannot exist again, the dead cannot be brought back to life. Therefore, the enlightened ruler is prudent, the good general is cautious. This is the Way of securing the nation, and preserving the army."

"The Ballads of Mudboy Slim"

Once upon a time, there was a magical Kingdom, where a God-fearing, industrious people flourished, enjoying their Lives, their Liberty, and their Pursuit of Happiness. These good people were empowered by their trust in a Government of Constitutionally-limited powers, the inherent goodness of their Democratically-chosen Leaders, and their belief that Justice and the Rule of Law ultimately triumphs over all. This Great Kingdom, led by the patriot Reagan, fought the Great Crusade against the evil, totalitarian Red Fiefdom accross the Sea, and were Victorious, inspiring other Peoples--longing for FReedom--to look upon the Kingdom as a Shining City on the Hill!

Until one day, a devious cabal of power-hungry men and womyn infiltrated the Kingdom, casting a wicked spell of Fear, Cynicism, and Doubt that steadily enslaved ever-increasing numbers of these good people in the shackles of Dependency and Entitlement. And the power of these despoilers of freedom--who called themselves Lib'rals--grew immense, as they wrested control of the Halls of Enlightenment, the Chroniclers of Information, the Ministry of Culture, and the gargantuan Bureaucracy of Regulators. As the Great Reagan and his many strong Knights returned from vanquishing the despots of the Red Fiefdom, they wearily attempted to resist this Vast, Left-Wing Conspiracy and the sinister tide of Pessimism that had permeated the Soul of their once-great Kingdom. However, Reagan had grown weak and ill from his heroic efforts, and the defenders of Liberty--who called themselves Conservatives--found themselves without a strong leader, and temporarily without direction. And the Sheeple were spell-bound and silent...

Into this breach strode the vile, boorish ruler, Slick Willie, a charlatan without a soul, devoid of character, and driven only by a shameless Lust for Power (and for young harlots to whom he was not betrothed). The Lib'rals hailed his tyrannical reign and excused his TREASONOUS crimes, as this self-styled "Effete Elite" secretly despised the Kingdom's granting of FReedom and Liberty to the peasant folk, for it empowered their subjects and undercut the Lib'rals' claim on Power. The corrupt Slick Willie--who came to be known as Billzabubba--sought to further the enslavement of the once-strong Sheeple by secretly colluding with the despots of a new, totalitarian Red Fiefdom accross the Sea, and conspired to increase his countrymen's dependence on the Omnipotent Diety of Guv'ment. Still, the Sheeple remained spell-bound and largely silent...

Until, gloriously, a wise man of Noble, yet Humble, descent--who came to be known as the Maja Rushi--arose from the masses, and spread accross the Kingdom his message of The Way Things Ought To Be. An heir to the optimism of Reagan, the Maja Rushi inspired millions to awake from their Mellow Apathy and strike out against the tyrannical rule of the Lib'rals and the reign of the evil Billzabubba. Still, most of the Sheeple remained spell-bound and largely silent...

Finally, a young balladeer--who came to be known as Mudboy Slim--joined the Great Crusade against Slick Willie! This young Patriot combined the optimism of Reagan with the wisdom of the Maja Rushi. Mudboy and MUDzMerryMinstrels vocalized many great folk songs that enlivened the Masses, causing the corrupt, Lib'ral spell to be broken and Billzabubba and his Lib'ral apologists to be vanquished from Power!!

Thus, there dawned a great new Libertarian Era of ever-shrinking governmental authority and an ever-expanding emphasis on Individual Liberty and Personal Responsibility. Herein are compiled but a few of those songs that have been passed down through the Ages, The Ballads of Mudboy Slim...

"D'asshole Blames Lovable Fuzzball for Gutless RATS' Losing It!!"

"What happens when (radio talk show host) Rush Limbaugh attacks those of us in public life is that people aren't satisfied just to listen," the South Dakota DemonRAT explained. "They want to act because they get emotionally invested. And so, you know, the threats to those of us in public life go up dramatically, on our families and on us, in a way that's very disconcerting." D'asshole, whose office was a target in last year's anthrax mail attacks, declined to go into detail about the nature of the threats. But he said that when he was accused by Republicans of being an obstructionists the number of threats against him and his family rose. "If entertainment becomes so much a part of politics and if that entertainment drives an emotional movement in this country among some people who don't know the difference between entertainment and politics, and who are then so energized to go out and hurt somebody, that troubles me about where politics in America is going," D'asshole said."

"...the Republican Party did not organize the protests, nor were "busloads" of protesters sent in by other groups. The protests against the inventor of the Internet were organized on the Internet. Specifically, the protests were started by the "Freepers" on Free Republic (www.freerepublic.com), "an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism." Free Republic was founded by Jim Robinson, a Vietnam veteran living in Fresno, Calif., and the protests on Massachusetts Avenue outside the Naval Observatory were organized by Washington, D.C. area members. Also, Mr. Gore might like to know that it was a Freeper who designed a widely circulated parody of the Gore-Lieberman 2000 logo: "Sore Loserman."

"Excellent Analysis on the Source of D'asshole's Rage!!"

"Well look at it this way Doctor. Daschle would have passed all the appropriation bills this year but he decided on a continuing resolution to continue them until next year when he might have the house and he would certainly have 2 or 3 more votes in the Senate. Then he looks up on election night and realized he has handed control of this years appropriations to Bush and Trent Lott."

"Then he finds out Bush has talked to a bunch of Democrat Senators and they are ticked at what McAuliffe and Daschle had done to them. AFter the chats Daschle no longer even had 40 votes to filibuster the Home Security bill. Bush had 65 votes to bring it up over Daschles dead body. All Daschle could do was pretend it was his idea to bring it up. Bush was prepared to humiliate him by passing it his way, before Talent took office with the same senators who had blocked bush in 2001 and 2002. Those Democratic senators used to be aligned with their brother Daschle. Now they were scared to death of George Dubya Bush."

"Imagine before the new Republicans even take office, Bush has control of 16 of your senators. Look at the cloture vote on Homeland Security. It was 65 to 29. Bush had 16 Democrats who had served the last two years fighting bush, now voting with him. Note that 6 Democrats didn't even show up to vote."

"That is called humiliation city. Daschle was so mad at Bush and Lott he tried to kick Rush Limbaugh in the teeth.... but his feet would not go that high over his head.. It ain't easy being a little D'asshole."

ACU's "Finally, an argument well made"
By David Keene

"As I reread President Bush’s speech and the arguments for going after Iraq, I couldn’t help but think back to the comments of another Texan last Sept. 12. Sen. Phil Gramm stood on the Senate floor within a day of the disasters in New York and Washington to suggest in the strongest terms possible that, while we may not be able to hunt down every one of Bin Laden’s buddies or change the hearts and minds of those to whom he appeals, we can do one thing to make the world safer in an era of state-sponsored or -supported terrorism."

"Gramm said then that we could make certain that no rational leader, regardless of where his or her sympathies might lay, would have the courage to make common cause with terrorists like bin Laden by demonstrating the costs of doing so. Taking out Saddam Hussein would certainly do that and the fact that some might believe he hasn’t really proved his case by coming up with the proverbial smoking gun before acting, might simply make them even more circumspect.

"Perhaps that’s what Bush is doing right now. The military campaign against Saddam Hussein’s Iraqi regime has already begun. Scores of U.S. aircraft are busily taking out his defenses and, presumably, targeting at least some of the sites at which his researchers are so busily working to develop the weapons he needs to cow his adversaries. The question of whether we follow up these air raids with a massive ground presence à la Desert Storm remains to be seen. One hopes we won’t have to, of course, as the cost in U.S. lives of doing so may be much higher than most Americans are presently prepared to accept, but as the president makes the case for whatever action might prove necessary, that could change."

"And he is finally making that case. His U.N. speech last week provided a public rationale for military action that went beyond what he and his spokesmen have said in the past and gave some coherence to the actions the administration is clearly considering in the months ahead. In the process, he has managed to prove one of the contentions of those who have said that the idea of tying U.S. action to either U.N. or foreign approval would be foolish. It is clear to all at this point that the Bush administration will act on its own if need be and that realization is convincing many of our “allies” to sign on. The nations that have been carping the loudest are nations headed by followers, not leaders, and they now appear ready to do what they do best...follow a leader. Some have even been heard to suggest in recent days that it’s time to admit that Saddam Hussein is a greater threat to the peace than George W. Bush.

"Bush is to be congratulated, not just for his willingness to make hard decisions, but for finally realizing that in a nation such as ours one cannot proceed without public support for those decisions. Many conservatives have been arguing for months that, while we firmly believe a case could be made justifying action against Iraq, the president hadn’t made it. We cannot run around the world taking out “bad guys” whenever we decide to do so or invading foreign lands because at some point their leaders might threaten our allies or us. The decision to risk the lives of Americans must be taken only when it can be demonstrated that there exists a real threat to our national security interests that cannot be tolerated. Absent such a showing, Americans will inevitably become little more than the policemen of the world with a wide-ranging mandate to strangle tyrants in their cradles as well as to protect our people and neighbors from full-grown thugs. That is the road that leads to Mogadishu and the hubris that has destroyed great civilizations throughout human history.

"Now, however, the case is being made and made effectively. Bush is arguing fairly convincingly that the world must act now against Hussein and making it clear that if we are forced to act alone we will do so because taking him out is in our national interest. It is still possible to disagree with the president’s conclusions or even to suggest that there are measures short of invasion that might allow us to deal effectively with the Iraqi threat, but it is no longer possible to suggest that the president is simply playing politics by considering a resort to the sword or to cavalierly reject the rationale he has presented as some of his critics do."

Good work, Mr. Keene...MUD

"Life and Death on 'The Late Show'"

"David Letterman did something that has perhaps never been done on television. On October 30th, he devoted his entire program to a terminally ill musician, Warren Zevon. The show was a celebration of Zevon's music -- he performed three songs -- but it was also a public goodbye. It was a remarkable and moving program, and Letterman deserves credit for pulling it off so gracefully. So does Zevon, of course. Those who saw the show are not likely to forget it anytime soon. Warren Zevon is a rock singer/songwriter who has never sold many records. With the exception of "Werewolves of London," he's never had a hit. But he is known and respected among his fellow songwriters for his barbed take on life and his unusual subject matter. His song catalog is rife with colorful titles like "Monkey Wash Donkey Rinse," "Sentimental Hygiene," "Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead," and "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner."

"Just a Foot Soldier in the Limbaugh Jihad!!"

"Being a news junkie required active analysis, and the filtering of what did from what didn't make sense. As shocking as it might be to believe, I was once a regular, though skeptical listener of National Public Radio. Often to the dismay of my friends, my professors and anyone else unfortunate enough to be around me, I evolved into an eager and confrontational debater who reveled in election seasons and at how easy it was to trump liberal arguments.

"At one point a friend and regular witness to my tirades said to me "You've got to listen to this guy on the radio, he sounds just like you!" When I asked whom he was referring to, he blurted out "Rush Limbaugh". I replied snidely, "Oh, that guy". To that point I had never listened to his, or any other talk radio show. I was familiar with the name, however, and drawing on what I'd heard added, "that guy is a racist". Considering myself to be an intellectual conservative, I didn't want my views sullied by exposure to him.

"But as the 1992 election campaign dragged on my revulsion at the media's love affair with the Clintons escalated and on a whim I tuned into Limbaugh and agreed immediately that he did indeed sound just like me. Pardon my ego, but it's easy to be an amateur Limbaugh when you're only preaching to an audience of two or three. 20 million requires just a wee bit more. Hearing both the host and the callers, I felt relieved to know that I was not a philosophical accident, not a lone conservative in a neo-socialist's world and not the only one vilified for having the temerity to defy liberalism."

I tell ya, I couldda written this...the dude's 100% on target!! My brother bought me "The Way Things Ought to Be" for Christmas the year we were preparing for Desert Storm, but I had never listened to Rush until we were actually in Kuwait and Iraq, at which time I listened just to find out the news on Desert Storm. Didn't take me long to get hooked, and fer the last 11+ years, I started taping as many of his shows as possible and listening to them as I did yard work or drove around Virginia or whenever I could make the time. On average, I've probably listened to Limbaugh's words20-25 hours per week fer that entire period...LOL!!

Rush almost lost me when I thought he was going soft on Clinton during the push to RE-Impeach the EX-Rapist-in-Chief, but I continued to listen only to discover Rush was biding his time and helping to muster the necessary forces. It'd take a lot of unforeseen KRAP by the Lovable Fuzzball for me to ever doubt him again!!
