Missing Adult, HELP NEEDED (crime in progress?) [SC]
Missing Adult family member -- thread on TimeBomb2000 Forum ^ | 11/15/02 | Prairie Lady

Posted on 11/15/2002 12:02:43 PM PST by Cascadians

This is an urgent plea for help from Prairie Lady; these are her posts: [copied]

I JUST got off the phone with my neice. It seems my sister (her mother) is missing since yesterday between 3pm and 4:40pm yesterday from the SouthCarolina area.

She headed north as far as we can track, but then nothing. This is TOTALLY uncharacteristic of her.

We need to know if she is on her own willingly making decisions, or if she has been abducted and is in need of help. Is there anybody from that area that can help?
----------------------

ok, she spoke to hubbie from home via phone about 3 pm yesterday afternoon. She left home at that time saying she was headed for her local walmart near Aynor South Carolina..I don't know the exact town...maybe conroe or something? She never made it to walmart. Survaliance tapes show she never went in there. She withdrew some money from the bank locally. She put gas in her car at the north carolina / south carolina state line (cherry creek). She withdrew a BUNCH of money in Raliegh Durham North Carolina. She spoke to her daughter at 4:30 saying she was going christmas shopping and that she would be late. But she never made it home.

If she had any inclinations to leave home, she never indicated it, and she would NOT be heading NORTH!!

She is 5'7 inches tall, LONG legs, 150 lbs, has very short medium brown hair. lots of freckels, hazel eyes. Driving a Dark Blue BMW 4 door with a mini antennea on the driver's side on the post between the door and the windshield, licence plate # 845HLG
----------------------
Go ahead and post it at freeps..thanks
----------------------

My brother in law is former military police. He made a call to the police and is tracking bank usage which is showing itself to be very abnormal such as numerous attempts to use the various cards but rejects due to wrong pin numbers. He's requested survalance tapes from the banks as well. She was supposed to go to walmart, but walmart survaliance tapes show she never made it there. So, hes compiling stuff to show that something IS very wrong.

Also, she talked to her daughter AFTER one of the cash drafts and said someting weird to her daughter...like I love you...and she NEVER says that to THAT daughter.

Anyway, I didn't want to put all this on the boards...

This is too weird.

Lt. Larry Schilling of the Conway police department said there is still no trace of Donovan, a businesswoman who is in her 40s. Schilling said federal and state investigators have pieced together some leads, including a trail that took Fulks and Basham from South Carolina to Kentucky and Ohio through North Carolina.

Ohio troopers were searching every street yesterday within 10 miles of the rest stop and two helicopters were searching to see whether the car had been abandoned in a field.

''Ww worked long hours throughout the weekend and talked through the night with Kentucky on this,'' Schilling said. ''They've flown helicopters to try to locate the lady in the Ohio area.''

Police: Alice Donovan Abducted From Wal-Mart Parking Lot

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- As police hunt for a man suspected of abducting a 44-year-old woman in South Carolina, the woman's relatives in New Hampshire hope her friendliness and knack for gaining trust will buy her safety.

Police think two Kentucky jail escapees abducted Alice Donovan from a Wal-Mart parking lot. One of the escapees was caught on Sunday, but another, Chadrick Fulks, 25, is still on the loose.

Donovan's mother, Lorraine Moore of Bristol, N.H., said her daughter is a good talker. Her sister, Gloria Lindsey, said Donovan is also a good listener. They hope she'll be able to gain the trust of her abductor and not be harmed.

Search For Escaped Convict Continues
Police Continue Search For Escaped Convict

Police say they have "a lot of leads" after arresting another Kentucky jail escapee. Both men are suspects in a string of kidnappings, stolen cars, and shootouts with police.

Police believe the man in this BMW is 25-year-old Chadrick Fulks. As an Ohio state trooper approaches, gun drawn, the driver takes off, and the chase is on. Police eventually lose Fulks in the ensuing high-speed chase.

Fulks escaped from a western Kentucky jail two weeks ago with 21-year-old Branden Basham. Fulks and Bashem who was captured Sunday are suspected of kidnapping a woman from a Wal-Mart in South Carolina. Alice Donovan hasn't been seen since. Police say they're hoping to find her alive.

The escapees are also suspected of kidnapping a Kentucky man in Madisonville and tying him to a tree. He later escaped.

After the woman disappeared near Myrtle Beach, police captured Bashem in Ashland. They say Bashem tried to take a car from a woman at an Ashland mall. Police say after exchanging gun fire with police, Bashem was found in the Ohio River.

Bashem is in the Boyd County jail under a two-million dollar bond. Police say they have a surveillance tape showing Donovan being kidnapped, and describe it as..."chilling."

This is a Sun News article that was on the AP... Very human of Alice and family... much more info of the robbery and the guys trying to get vehicles before they abducted Alice:

Abducted woman's family waits for news

The Associated Press

As police in Ohio hunt for a man suspected of abducting a 44-year-old
grandmother in Conway, her family hopes her knack for gaining trust and her
friendliness will buy her safety.

Police think Kentucky jail escapees Branden Basham, 21, and Chadrick Fulks,
25, abducted Donovan from a Wal-Mart parking lot in Conway. The men also are
suspects in the abduction of a 42-year-old Kentucky man, who escaped after
being tied to a tree and abandoned.

Basham was arrested Sunday after allegedly trying to hijack a car from a
woman and her 15-year-old daughter at an Ashland, Ky., mall. After a foot
chase during which Basham and an officer exchanged gunfire, police found him
in the Ohio River.

Fulks eluded police Tuesday after a chase.

Donovan, of Galivants Ferry, is a warm, caring and a deep thinker, her
sister Gloria Lindsey says. She has two grown daughters and three
grandchildren.

"She's a good listener and cares about other people," Lindsey said from her
mother's home in New Hampshire.

"She doesn't care from what walk of life they're from. She can relate to
them. She can understand how people think and how they are. She can get
inside your head. I do feel it will help her survive. ... I can't help but
think that if the kidnappers just let her talk, gain her trust and get to
know her, they would not harm her."

"She can have a good rapport with the younger ones, and she's good with
talking," said her mother, Lorraine Moore of Bristol, N.H., a gathering
point form some of Donovan's family as they wait for any news.

Lindsey said her sister was comfortable with anyone, from a truck driver to
a nun, and not easily intimidated. "That's just Alice," he said. "She's
lovable, fun and so caring."

Donovan has four other sisters and a brother.

Donovan had stopped at the Wal-Mart to buy Christmas presents. Parking lot
cameras captured the moment she was abducted.

Less than an hour earlier, residents say they saw the two men, who had
escaped from the Hopkins County jail in western Kentucky on Nov. 4.

Two men fired at Carl Jordan as he chased them away from his son's mobile
home. They'd stolen guns. A few minutes later, Mark Cooper saw two men in a
green minivan speeding down the driveway to his metalworks company. They saw
him, turned and headed back down the driveway, headed to a neighbor's house.
"I knew they weren't supposed to be there so I called her," Cooper said. "I
asked her if two young guys were supposed to be there. She said, `No.' She
wanted me to call the law."

Armed with a gun and cell phone, Cooper drove to the end of his neighbor's
driveway. but the men left before police arrived. Police found the van stuck
in the mud on a dirt road behind the house.

Oleita Hyman said the men knocked on her neighbor's door. "They wanted her
to take them somewhere and use her phone." Hyman said her neighbor refused
twice to let them inside. Then the men drove away in Hyman's farm truck.
That truck was left in the Wal-Mart parking lot before Donovan disappeared.
"If I had seen them getting my truck, I would have tried to stop them,"
Hyman said. "They probably would have shot me. It's a good thing I didn't
know it."

Donovan's family is trying to dispel what they don't know with hope as they
gather in front of the television. Watching the news coverage, Moore stopped
abruptly Tuesday to listen to a news alert.

"Oh, there's my daughter," Moore said, breaking down.

"She's on the TV. Oh, my Alice ... I just want to keep covering her with a
warm blanket. I don't want her to be cold if she's out there."

When the news alert ended, Moore said goodbye to friends who had brought
food and came to offer support.

"There are so many people praying for her, strangers even. ... It's not been
easy, but we're doing it. You just pray and pray."

We pray...

Dearest Father, we kneel before You, praying for the safe return of our dear sister, Alice. In our sadness and worry, we pray that You will bring comfort to Alice, and make known to her...all the praying, searching family, friends and strangers who love and miss her. Let Your hand bring her mind and body the strength that is needed to help her continue forward.

We also ask of You, Precious Lord, to continue to hold and bring comfort to Alice's family during this time. Let the Holy Spirit be their guide, shining brightly upon them and before them, the light of Your endless presence and love.

We thank You for these and all things.

Amen.

(Ping for more prayer) and just to say - tears here and more prayers. God be with the family as he is with Alice. Lord Jesus bring your strongest angels to comfort and protect and deliver Alice wherever she is from danger and harm. Bring her your presence, protection and your peace and lead searchers to her and to the criminal on the loose.

Just checking in to catch up reading the thread.

Thanks for your kind words. It's easy to get caught up in bashing LE at times. (Especially with a case going on here in AZ that I won't go into on this thread).

You're right. I think the vast majority are great people that want to protect and serve. I could never be married to a cop. I worry too much! Their families are very special people.

This sounds good, at times it works kind of like the reverse of the Stockholm syndrome.
