WOODWARD DOES THE BUSHIES

Woodward "does" the administration--I thought the Bushies were more disciplined than that. Will R's never learn that the only way to get a fair shake is to write your own book?

ROVE THOUGHT POST-9/11 WORLD SERIES GAME LIKE NAZI RALLY The president emerged wearing a New York Fire Department windbreaker. He raised his arm and gave a thumbs-up to the crowd on the third base side of the field. Probably 15,000 fans threw their arms in the air imitating the motion. He then threw a strike from the rubber, and the stadium erupted. Watching from owner George Steinbrenner’s box, Karl Rove thought, It’s like being at a Nazi rally. (p. 277)

The New York Times and the ADL are going to go bonkers over this. Not that Rove did anything wrong, but Republicans are not allowed to use the word Nazi in any context. Only Democrats are, and only on one occasion: When describing Republicans.

I can't believe the administration was dumb enough to let woodward hang around.

Re-read it. Rove "thought." Artistic license, in my opinion. WOODWARD thought it sounded like a Nazi rally, and stuck it in Rove's "thoughts."

Did ANYONE think the World Series sounded like a Nazi rally? (Except the DU people, of course.)

The most insightful part of the book was from Woodward's interview last week with Paul Wellstone.

Woodward has this nifty little trick of going "inside the mind" and inferring he has been told this.

Yep. Didn't he "interview" former CIA Director Casey while the latter was in a coma dying from cancer?

Here is what I think happened. Remember back last year Woodward was given access to the White House for the series he did in the Post about events right after 9/11 up to the Afghan war? Remmber it was pretty much complimentary?

He has been sitting in his office, like a malevolent spider, stretching the truth and padding that article with lies all year. He has weaseled around and tried to figure out ways to make the President sound less like a leader and play up the dissension in the administration.

I hope he is squashed like a bug.

The M.O. that the dems use is to create a "demon" and use that person to gin up emotion in their base. They failed to demonize President Bush, Cheney-failed, Delay-failed, Rumsfield-failed, etc. (No more Newt to kick around anymore).

I think Rove is the new target for "demonization".....

Yes, you are right. Fortunately, Rove isn't on TV much and most people don't know who he is.

One question-is Simon and Schuster the pub company that pre paid hitlery something like EIGHT MILLION BIG ONES for her yet to be published missive of lies and distortions?

And if so, is Simon and Schuster, who paid for her house in DC, a donor to the DNC, solely?

I find Woodward's agenda far more precious to him than the truth.

I guess Woodward had to do something, now that the Annual Nixon Was The Bogeyman party draws such yawns.

I was thinking the SAME thing. Woodward and Bernstein (and now John Dean) LIVE to slam down ANY event in the world that they believe might eclipse their "fame."

On December 16, The New York Times and Washington Post reported that
Senator-elect Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) had agreed to accept a
gargantuan $8 million book advance from Simon & Schuster, a subsidiary
of Viacom, the second largest media conglomerate in the world.

Oh boy....is Viacom an owner or associated with VH-1, the company that PURPOSEFULLY deleted the BOOS and HISSES that hitlery received as she stepped onto the stage in NY at an event hosted for the firemen and policemen there? (And, BTW, REPLACED the BOOS with CHEERS before distribution?)

It would seem Simon and Schuster and VH1 are deep into certain body cavities of the late, once great before socialism took it over, dem party.

Cheney was beyond hell-bent for action against Saddam. It was as if nothing else existed. (p. 346)

God bless Vice President Cheney (and his lovely wife)!!

Woodward and Bernstein have lived off Watergate for nearly 30 years. Neither are about to let anything surpass "their" story unless it is another one of "their" stories. I submit "Bill Clinton and his administration" in support of that statement. LOL
"Bush’s leadership style bordered on the hurried. He wanted action, solutions. Once on a course, he directed his energy at forging on, rarely looking back, scoffing at – even ridiculing – doubt and anything less than 100 percent commitment. He seemed to harbor few, if any, regrets. His short declarations could seem impulsive"

That is supposed to be a bad thing ? LOL. Why is that ? Is it because panels, focus groups, academics and psuedo intellectuals weren't consulted ? Or is it because this White House doesn't leak and Woodward is forced to report his assumptions ?

Taken out of context it is impossible to know what he meant by that stab at Karl Rove. However, I'd be willing to bet Rove never so much as thought that much less said it aloud. Rove is too smart to let the likes of Woodward get the best of him. He is an amateur historian and has probably studied Watergate inside and out. He and the president have worked together for 29 years and there is no way he would equate anything that President Bush does with Nazi Germany.
