[history]
There's a lot to think about this week--the rise of Nancy Pelosi, the meaning of the Republican triumph--but my thoughts keep tugging toward a group of people who are abused, ostracized and facing a cold winter. It's not right what we do to them, and we should pay attention.

Well, isn't projection one of the main psychiatric signposts of liberalism?

Oh, and did you appoint yourself Official Free Republic Rebuker after three weeks here, or did JR give you the job?

Defending someone they love to hate. No, you have aided and abetted a person who takes particular delight in standing behind a big brother government in the taking away of individual liberties. The fact that she refrains from profanity does not make her any less scurrilous. Her attitude is demeaning to those that do not agree with. When you support her, you support this contemptable attitude.

#315........ You are right, but we don't get a whole lot of non-smokers who understand that it isn't just about smoking, but the chipping away of our freedom, they won't understand until it hits them, by then it will be too late.
Thank you again.

"Savings from lower health care costs would probably be greater than the lost revenue."
Nothing short of a blight that killed off all the lawyers, could ever lower health care costs.

Our take, the evidence points to second hand smoke not being the killer the nazis contend and smokers as a whole are having a lot more fun and living life more fully than the non-smokers. Maybe that's why the "nico-nazis" hate smokers so -- for they hate the idea that somebody out there might actually be enjoying himself, in a manner without/beyond their consent or "permission."
If this isn't the perfect description of "the puritan mindset," then I am willing to be corrected on this matter.... Volunteers welcome.
Thank you so much, KC_for_Freedom, and Mrs. KC_f_F, for upholding the customary standards of [Western] civilization, "against all odds." God bless.

How do you get away with that screen name in such a puritanical place? Waaaaall, borisbob69, it's a heck of a lot more fun being betty boop than it is to be Hester Prynne these days, even in New England -- even in "the heart of the Beast," Massachusetts. Point in case: Shannon O'Brien was defeated by Mitt Romney for governor here last week. :^) !!!!! Thanks for writing!

No, they never do make the connection to themselves, and they truly are the enemy.
Little lies such as the one about the smoking cars being 80% empty just open the door for the big lies to waltz right in...and have you noticed that hot august night has not replied to me? I wonder why.
Perhaps Walter Williams was right when he wrote that column saying it might be "Time to Part Company," because I see the chasm between people who love liberty and those who insist on government nannyism getting bigger and bigger. I'm no longer sure that this chasm can even be bridged anymore.

Yawn. Or, more appropriately, cough, cough, hack hack ...

Not me it doesn't. In fact, a new study concludes I gain lung cancer immunity from exposure to second hand smoke. I hereby demand my rights to this benefit and request you cease your efforts to deny me my rights. Tell your kids that!

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! You do realize that you have just described, almost, every anti-smoker out there including yourself. No. Black is the color of your lungs.

I don't smoke! I also don't feel the need to try to control those that chose to do. You see, I have a life. They have a life... And, you need to get one. I have a life. Thankfully it is essentially smoke free and getting more so all the time.

Actually, I drink lightly and I smoke. But when I go outside to smoke while at work, I am still working (my job involves figuring out how to do in 10 lines of code what someone else tried to do in 100). I also don't smoke in my own home because I have children in the house (even though the second hand smoke dangers appear to be bunk). Nor do I smoke in someone else's home unless they also smoke and do so in their home. It's only polite. Thank you. If all smokers were so courteous, I would find it hard to be so vocal against smoking.

Mountain climbing, gas breathing wreck divers, solo oceanic sailors, not. I have climbed mountains you would not tread on, I have soloed the oceans, I have my pilots license, certified scuba, driven race cars and hot motorcycles and so much more .... But then again, it is easy for you to call someone else a coward from behind your keyboard.

and the same suspects show up time after time to heap scorn and ridicule on us, mouthing things they would never dare to say face to face, like cinFLA's constantly mouthing, "Smoking kills, neener, neener!" If you want to come here and blow smoke in my face, I will tell you face to face what I think!

There is a definite correlation between fear/insecurity and Liberalism -- also between adolescence and Liberalism. You forgot Young-Earth-Creationism and Congential Brain Disease.

Did I say coward? I meant lying coward. Take some advice. Quit being so unimaginably reactive. You're so far behind the power curve you don't even know you're lapped. It doesn't matter what you say, you are typed. You're a psycho. A neurotic. Everyone's on to you. Everything you state is viewed through a glass darkly. You are witless. You lack style and snap and never fail to be weak and uninventive. In short, all the hallmarks of the left side of the Bell Curve. You have been kicked around so much on this thread by everyone that I imagine, for you, abuse is better than no attention at all. Come on, you can do better.
