Helium balloons destroy the ozone layer. NASA has recently discovered that Jupiter has a hole in its ozone, similar to the one on Earth. I hope you're happy. The entire solar system is now feeling the effects of your support for evil, environment-destroying Republicans.

Well, okay, I'll comment. Heeheehee! Hope your fingers get better and that you will not have bled in vain. What goes up must come down.

With age has come wisdom. I now see that what my President had needed wasnt more balloons. . . . He needed more electoral votes.
I'm sick of your excuses. It's apparent to everyone that he needed more balloons, you let him down and bear complete and total responsibility for the 8 years of "The Arkansas Love Machine".
(Seriously, very well written! Congrats!)

Democracy itself was beckoning me to service. I would not fail my nation.
Nice article, but I've been told we live in a republic, not a democracy, so please change that part.

Bush I would have won if he hadn't sold out gun owners.
Bush II will face the same situation.

I "second" the bravo, both for writing, and allegorical implications!
(why I don't write better: I like big words too much, and am far too pretentious!! Let me try again: "Well done, RG! Freegards!") ;)

I was there, too. The previous night I had assembled with the local Republican gentry to make signs. We were in the City Ice building there on Browns Bridge Rd/Jesse Jewell Pkwy making signs like crazy. I saved several for myself since I liked my slogans better. When the time came to cross through the barricades at the train depot, the USSS wouldn't let me and my family bring in our own signs, even though they had been made at the same time and place as the others. Disappointed, we dropped any protest and picked up new signs. I stood at the back of the train with my wife and four small children, within 20 yards of the President. My wife got a picture of each child on my shoulders with the President in the background making his speech. We tried, we few, to swing the vote his way. To no avail. In November '92, I was on a field training exercise with my ANG Air Control Squadron in Savannah when the tragic results came in. Much angst was evident among the officers and enlisted. Even then we knew "bubba" was a bad deal for America.
