Mohammed and Malvo are alleged to be this prison-oriented, very violent "splinter" group of the NOI, called the 5-Percenters. While I don't know that much about them, it seems to me the 5-Percenters are likely just the radical arm of the NOI, with a separate name for "plausible deniability" by NOI.

The 5-Percenters apparently claim to be gods. It's hard to imagine something that would be more offensive to a Moslem than to say that. I wonder why Moslems don't condemn them.

Perhaps this is the origin of the 5% concept.
