This is a test of the institutional memory of FReeperdom.
My query is first about the tasty canned meat, but also to learn if the current common slang regarding undesirable e-mail is in anyway related, or if that term has it's own independent basis in origination.
LOL I like that one the best. Thanks, all, for your responses and links. I only recently began to see 'IIRC' show up on FR threads, and relatively frequently, so I thought it might be an FR 'house' acronym.
Thanks again and remember...
Don't send SPAM,...EAT IT!
Back in the olden days, when I was a kid... They told me that people ate everypart of pigs, except the squeal!!!
Maybe that's what makes SPAM unique... They scooped up the squeal and CANNED IT!!!
"Correct Me If I'm Wrong."
That ought to keep puzzlin some FReepers for awhile!!!
AFAIK, IIRC means I have no idea why I know this. OTOH, if I recall correctly, SPAM means Salt Preserved Ham. And of course it's Animal Meat. Isn't it?
INRI - I nearly reached India
CMIIW but, you haven't really gotten a definitive answer as to the origin of the term SPAM in cyberlingo have you? Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong. (From now on I'll just say MIJLAIW. Ha.) I guess you really have several definitive answers.
Yes it is in fact. Porcine meat to be precise. But I think SPAM means Sling Pork At Muslims.
If yew wuz a shiddy spelar lyke me, ya wudn't nead ta yews wunna them ther assturisky thangs!!!
Sure...that's what Chef Emeril Legasse yells: "SPAM...SPAM....SPAM"
er..er..or was it "BAM...BAM...BAM" ?
: )
Hilarious!!
This is exactly the same reason why I haven't eaten the stuff in years. I was in Bodo, Norway for cold weather training in '87, and I had no idea that there were so many ghastly dishes that demented USMC cooks could concoct with SPAM! (If I recall, the sick bastards even served SPAM tacos!) I have not, and will not, eat SPAM to this day.
That's what you get when you run over one of your're wife's nesting hens with a bush-hog.
