WASHINGTON -- It was too much for retired Archbishop Philip Hannan of New Orleans to take. As his younger brother bishops Tuesday moved toward telling President Bush how deeply skeptical they are of the morality of a war against Iraq, Hannan, at 89 still the peaceable fraternity's most reliable hawk, rose and argued the other side.

Gee, what a surprise.

I believe the church's inclination to be more liberal in its practices and responsive to its perceived members has led it to acquire more eunchs as Bishops than ever before. Let the revolution continue. Cheers to Bishop Hannan.

Not only in this issue, but most clearly revealed in it, is the bishops' shamelessness in espousing a position (doubts about the wisdom of a unilateral strike, etc) that is simply uninformed. Any of us on this forum can go down the list of reasons why people oppose the war against Iraq, and can systematically demonstrate that the arguments are not supported by the facts (for example, a US attack would NOT be unilateral). It's sad, really.

BUMP

"They've never seen it; they don't know what the hell they're talking about."

Give'm hell Phil.

Law is clueless as usual, surrounded by his wimpy pc staff. But of course, it's easier to bash a non pc government than to actually do their own job of protecting the flock and preaching the truth of the Gospel
