[history]
Convinced that Al Qaeda terrorists are hiding in southeast Michigan, federal investigators have focused much of the government's secret war on terrorism in metro Detroit neighborhoods.
The result is a massive, extraordinary network -- with undercover agents infiltrating Arab and Muslim communities, street informants feeding information to investigators, and cooperative, but wary, community leaders acting as cultural guides into the local Arab world.

ROTFL. Yes, Bernstein would be my first choice, too.
To: rintense
Yes.. Definitely related IMO to recent terror threats and warnings.

From what I gathered on the news reports it was just today but I haven't read the news sites to find out for sure. I suppose I had either better go do that or clean out my car.

"Being in Dearborn now is like being in a dark lake," said Elder, the lawyer. 'You don't see the gators, but they're down there."Unwittingly, Mr. Elder has stated a very fundamental truth in this quote. Unfortunately, his interpretation and our interpretation are 180° apart...

I lived my entire life in Dearborn until I married just over ten years ago. The changes are certainly apparent but would they keep me from moving back there? No, they wouldn't. But, I also grew up on the West side and it is the East side this is speaking to.

But, I also grew up on the West side and it is the East side this is speaking to.Yes, there is a great difference between West and East. Back while I was in undergrad (also about 10 years ago) there at UM-D, the beginnings of the shift were evident in East... West, I think, hasn't changed much at all.

Back while I was in undergrad (also about 10 years ago) there at UM-DHahahaha. We may very well have met. As I was back then, I would prefer to think we didn't.
I just read a piece on Edsel Ford (where I graduated) and there are quite a few arabs there now but my dad's neighborhood doesn't reflect that at all yet.

"I tell my clients not to trust anybody -- not even their own brother," said Doraid Elder, a Dearborn lawyer who has represented Middle Eastern men wanted for questioning after last year's terror attacks. "You don't know who's working for who."
Well it's clear on which side this lawyer is working. Only in PC America can this pass as noble.
By the reaction, and fear, I suspect there is a lot of bad guys and sympathizers there.

There you go, using logic. Don't you know these are all peaceful, religious community muslim activists? /sarc
Ramzan must be even moodier than usual in Detroit this year.

How'd you do that? (the linky-dink thingy) what gadgets do I use?I don't have the HTML Bootcamp thread link handy... Search for "HTML Bootcamp" and there's a great deal of interesting information there.
To make a link, one takes the URL (Internet address) of the page, and some link text. For example, let's make a link to Free Republic. The URL is "http://www.freerepublic.com", and it's very important to include the http://, for some other resources don't use http and that will confuse and break the link. Instead of bras and kets, (< = bra, > = ket) I'll use the square brackets [].
[a href="http://www.freerepublic.com"]Free Republic[/a] would appear as...
Free Republic.

The last time the FBI took measures as desperate as this was
September 5th, 2001.
The really sick thing is that the terrorist swine at the "Islamic Association for Palestine" were whining about it at the time as an attack on Muslims and have never apologized. The link I gave you STILL works, it's been over a year and they STILL have this link on their page, whining about the FBI's desperate last-second attempt to stop 9/11.

Hahahaha. We may very well have met. As I was back then, I would prefer to think we didn't.Yeah, I wasn't exactly the best company back then...
I just read a piece on Edsel Ford (where I graduated) and there are quite a few arabs there now but my dad's neighborhood doesn't reflect that at all yet.
Fordson HS always, even while I was in HS, had a few Arabs on their teams. Edsel was in a different league and we never played them. I wonder where their families are living; whether or not Dearborn district re-drew the boundaries..?

From what I gathered on the news reports it was just today but I haven't read the news sites to find out for sure. I suppose I had either better go do that or clean out my car.I was sitting in the physician's waiting room this evening and watched the WDIV coverage. They were talking about roadblocks in Macomb county (for other readers, northeast of Detroit, north of Lake St. Clair) and in Trenton (south of Detroit and Windsor, with only the narrow Detroit River). I don't recall specific statements, but there was the implication that these random roadblocks will continue.
For everyone's reference, if the law says roadblocks can go up within 35 miles of the border, then that's way out past Ann Arbor; Chelsea and Adrian are about 35 air miles from the border.

Ummm . . . I think you missed my intended meaning . . . that is to say, the new Muzzle-em grocer would now be selling Camel Crotch Pie, Goat Garbage Pie, Human Head Pie, and various other Muzzle-em Pie attrocities !!!
But no longer would Apple Pie, Pumpkin Pie, Blueberry Pie, and various other American Pie delights be available !!! Wherefore, if I was shopping at the new Muzzle-em 7-11, I surely would miss American pie !!! ;-))

Aha, I get ya now, lol.
