[history]
In the aftermath of any election, most media and public attention is quite naturally focused on the big political offices -- the governorship, for example -- and the fate of major ballot measures.
The old saying about the devil being in the details, however, is very applicable to election results. The full meaning of what the voters wrought is evident only when one moves beyond the obvious and mines other data.

* The geographic division of the state became starker. Davis won just 16 mostly coastal counties in Northern California and just two in Southern California -- Los Angeles and Imperial -- while Simon won all but a few inland counties and several along the Southern and Central California coast. County score: Simon by 40-18. Sounds like we need one state senator per county, to balance out the hard left state assembly.

So the angry white voters on both sides vote.
Now, will the Bee see how many dead and illegal voters voted, and then for whom they voted?
To: Grampa Dave
Yeah, and where are the illegal votes?
I don't know whether I believe what Walters is saying!
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
Yeah, and where are the illegal votes? I meant the recent immigrants votes!

Walters is like Chris Matthews, regardless of when he seems to be moderate or conservative, we must never forget that he is a Rat.

Did the Democrats win all the CA down-ballot statewide races to, such as atty. gen.?
To: Theodore R.
Mostly though there may be one office not yet decided.
Republicans did pick up a few seats in the legislature though, I think!

It's surprising that that clueless mooncalf Simon and his Keystone Cops Campaign got as many votes as he did. Are we sure he wasn't Jerry Brown wearing a mask?
