He has until Friday to change his mind. I will be very shocked if he does not reject the recommendation of this committee.

New Moon is the same all over the planet. One moon, with one shadow from the blockage of the sun's rays by the Earth.

First.....that is a Hindi paper. Second, this article is based upon a hearing shown live on Iraqi tv, not some anonymous source. I trust this one more.

"Here come the planes...
They're American planes,
Made in America.
Smoking?
Or non smoking..."

And the voice said,
"Neither snow nor rain,
Nor gloom of night,
Shall stay these couriers
From the swift completion
Of their appointed rounds..."

"'Cause when love is gone,
There's always justice.
And when justice is gone,
There's always force..."

When next Friday rolls around, Saddam will formally accept the resolution to save his clamy skin. He will stretch this out as loooong as he can.

I agree. But, it is indeed tickling to think about all the leaders of the musli world wringing their collective hands. Remember, most of the Musli world were telling us to back off, because, of course Saddam will comply. Think about the egg on the faces of all the Musli. On the other hand, if Saddam had indeed told the other leaders that he would comply, abd double-crossed them, they may lose their opposition to US actions

LOL...under Saddam the people HAVE no independence OR dignity.

Besides, it doesn't matter at this point whether Saddam accepts OR rejects the resolution. The president had it written...he pushed the UN HARD...and after November fifth the UN backed off in fear (as the US goes, so does the rest of the world) ...Saddam is out of the loop...and soon will be out of the picture.

In retrospect, I consider this a ploy that is being exercised. Either one of two options will be exercised. Iraq will watch world opinion and capitulate when they see that there is no great uprising of Americans to support his belligerience. or, he is privy to the AQ plans that Interpol recenlty relesed and is counting on a "diversion" to buy him time. In a Saddam pipe-dream, there is another AQ attack, America's attention is diverted, Saddam appeals to the Euroweenies to allow him to "mediate" between the Islamofacists and the west. Whango-blango Saddam stays in power and is now a "player". Sound far-fetched? Perhaps. But, given the nature of the arab mindset, its all about posturing.

"The ill intentions in this resolution are flagrant and loud in ignoring all the work that has been achieved in past years," said Parliament speaker Saadoun Hamadi, as he opened the special session.

"Fill your hand, you %$%&**%!"

The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Naji Sabri, said on Saturday that "no decision has been taken", but other Arab diplomats at a late night meeting of the Arab League here said that in effect Iraq had already accepted the resolution. As he entered today's meeting, Mr. Sabri said the Arab Governments were firm in rejecting the use of force by the U.S. However, the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Maher, said earlier this morning, "I think we can expect a positive position by the Iraqis."

The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Saud al-Faisal, indicated that Iraq would accept the resolution that dictated the return of arms inspectors. "They (Arab Ministers) welcomed Iraq's approval of this resolution with the confirmation Syria received that there would be no automatic military action," he said.

If you listen carefully, you can here the bleating of islamosheeple

I think this deceision to reject the "text" of the U.N. resolution is to push our hand, try to see if they can make the U.S. blink, or, push the UN's hand to see who is really on board and who will jump ship first in an attempt to re-write the resolution. Very dangerous game. On e the regime will suerly lose.

I think you nailed it. Saddam wants to see which of the Arab states are really on board. By floating the idea that the resolution will be rejected, he forces states like Syria to take the next step and support military action which Syria will not do. I think the ploy is short term. Saddam has until Friday to accept or reject the resolution. The announcement today means nothing. Until Saddam officially speaks, there is no answer from Iraq.

EVERYBODY assumed Iraq would accept the resolution and then delay, delay, delay. It may be that Saddam thinks the US isn't ready yet so by pushing our hand now, he can say we blinked if we don't attack right away. He also may just be shaking things up to rattle some people and throw them off guard.
