Al Qaida, as I understand it, wanted us to start rioting and attacking Muslims with violent mob activity to trigger desperate retaliation. The amazing thing is, it didn't happen. I did run across one kid who wanted to vandalize a shop. He accused the shopkeeper of celebrating 9-11. I told the kid I reported him and the shopkeeper to the FBI, that it would be best to not break the law.

Irony is, in six weeks or so last year after the Attacks, approximately a dozen people were killed in the USA directly attributed by LE to as revenge shootings, motive being a desire to get back at terrorists, a couple of the dead were muslims, most were not; a Copt, Sikhs, Hindus and one Mexican! The muslims were from India/Pakistan.

Remember the march in Detroit on the 11 or 12 Sept 2001 in the Detroit area on a large mosque; the brief pictures i saw showed quite the presence of police. That seems to have been the largest show by the public.
