"I also apologize for offending the countless men and women of the military who serve this nation with professionalism and dedication to their mission." I wonder if the personnel office and the Chancellor's office wrote this for him? Boy, sounds like a whipped puppy with his tail between his legs.

Well, I judge that sewer diver by the earlier line:
"I have communicated my apologies and they were graciously and readily accepted."
"Readily accepted" is an unrepentant Collaborator's way of giving us the finger.

Or maybe the professor is just stupid. After all, his original response called the cadet a baby killer. Maybe the good professor confused "soldier" with "abortionist". Zing! That was a direct hit, if I ever saw one. Hehe.

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce my response to that person.
I would probably get kicked off of the FR.com if I did.

As one who believes in non-violence and the avoidance of conflict, He's like so many that believe that self defense is perpetrating violence. Hell, everybody (except some muslims) believes in non-violence and avoidance of conflict.... but not at the expense of further violence. Feed the alligator hors d'ouvres and he'll eat you last.
To: Radix
Believe me, it took every ounce of inner strength I could muster to write the civil reply I did. But your private response to him is all that matters. We know what we're all thinking :-)

I think I will forward on the letter to Sean Hannity. Tomorrow being Veterans Day, he might be interested in
bringing it up.

" I'm going to pay college tuition for three kids for this crap?"We got lucky. We encourged our girls to get higher education but they were astute enough to choose not to go. We worried about how they would be able to support themselves in todays world (We fell for the liberal-media claptrap about education). However they are doing quite well on proven ability based on past performance. One hires college graduates to work for her but but claims that the quality is very poor. The other has gone into business for herself. Sure did save us a lot of money and now we're thinking of retireing early.

"We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;" Westmoreland:
Oh, but if we had but one more from England here this day.
Enter Henry:
If we are mark'd to die, we are enow
To do our country loss; and if to live,
The fewer men, the greater share of honour.
God's will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.
By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,
Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;
It yearns me not if men my garments wear;
Such outward things dwell not in my desires:
But if it be a sin to covet honour,
I am the most offending soul alive.
No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England:
God's peace! I would not lose so great an honour
As one man more, methinks, would share from me
For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!
Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,
That he which hath no stomach to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made
And crowns for convoy put into his purse:
We would not die in that man's company
That fears his fellowship to die with us.
This day is called the feast of Crispian:
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,
And rouse him at the name of Crispian.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,
And say 'To-morrow is Saint Crispian:'
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.
And say 'These wounds I had on Crispin's day.'
Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,
But he'll remember with advantages
What feats he did that day: then shall our names.
Familiar in his mouth as household words
Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,
Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,
Be in their flowing cups freshly remember'd.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.

thanks for the ping, Sam. The professor sounds like a 1960's friend of Bill. What an ass!

I sent him an email thanking him (sarcastic) for perpetuating the stereotype of the pompous, rude socialist college professor and signed with my academic rank at a major university.
I had an interesting experience this week. I was walking through the student union, wearing my jacket. A 20 something man with a clipboard asked me
"Do you have a minute for Greenpeace?"
I opened my jacket to reveal my National Rifle Association shirt and tie. I had a great laugh. I was already feeling good because it was Wednesday morning after the elections.
It's a rough life being the only gun-toting conservative on a big campus. I tried not to be too smug this week.

What a piece of S**t.
Happy birthday Marine Corps.
Ya know the S.O.B. professor only wrote the letter of apology just to save his own ass and to get 'tenure'.
I just returned from a Vetrans Day observance where 2 of the fellas from "BAND OF BROTHERS", Ed 'Babe' Hefron and 'Wild' Bill Guarnere were the guest speakers. Along with them were honored 22 other vetrans whose boots this professor isn't worthy to be stomped under.
To think that their buddies gave their lives so 'scholars' can teach real history to our sons and daughters. He is lucky that the whole 'Band of Brothers', our men and women in uniform, have defeated people like Hitler and Stalin. For where would a man of his caliber be? In a mass grave lost to history.
I'm an historian myself, I hope all ya'll realise that a jackass like that doesn't represent us all.
How true we owe all our liberties on what thse men did and others like the cadet are doing. GOD bless and keep all our sons and daughters, and all those who fight for freedom.
And most of all GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I put in my two cents. That man disgusts me, as does the institution that gives the idiot a platform. ALL Jesuit universities are sick (with the qualified exception of Gonzaga). All Catholics should send their kids to the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Christendom, Thomas Aquinas, or Ave Maria.
