On the CBS radio news at the top of the hour, they cut to a report from Mike Pulsipher, of the CBS affiliate radio station KCBS 740 in San Francisco, to describe Nancy Pelosi's imminent selection to the House Minority Leader. Mike matter of factly labeled her the "ultra-liberal Nancy Pelosi".
It's rare that such labels are used on liberals. 'Twas good to hear. Times they are a changing.

The problem is that they probably meant it as a compliment.

"Ultra-liberal?"
Just to show you how crazed Pelosi is: She opposes any military action against Iraq because (PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT: PLEASE PLACE ALL BEVERAGES DOWN) it might damage the environment of the Persian Gulf region (I swear).
This is really too much to hope for in a few short days of glory. Can you imagine this wealthy liberal psycho-b*tch as the next House minority leader? She is so whacked, so devisive, so insane ...that the Republicans will domininate Congress for a generation.

Maybe he has read the direction the wind is blowing, and is angling for a job with a real news organization :-) :-) :-).

The reporter probably thought that his description was the ultimate compliment.

I wouldn't get too worked up about this. It's one thing for a local reporter who gets to report on the national feed once every six months to use such language; it's quite another to hear the anchors in New York say it.

Is the difference between an ultra liberal and a communist?

Real progress will be when NPR starts calling her "that commie."

What does she think the environmental damage would be if a Saddam supplied AQ nuke went off in the bay area?

communists live in China. ultra-liberals live in California.
It's kind of like the difference between a typhoon and a hurricane.

Rush Limbaugh says the difference between a Communist and a liberal is:
...the Communist knows what he's doing.

There ain't no liberals no more... they've been shoved aside.
The Ami-commies now run the DNC. Hells bells and full speed ahead!
The dems are going the George McGovern route. Funny... how history always repeats itself.

The more rabid Democrats have been screeching to "return to their Democratic roots" and stop trying to run toward the "middle". Just go read some of the lunatic rantings on internet Democratic websites. It would appear that they really believe that going to the far left is going to help them and Pelosi, an ultra-leftie from San Francisco, of all places, is a viable person as Minority Leader. in the House.
We have seen Minnesota Dems turn down Alan Page, a popular black Democrat in favor of an "old dead white male", Mondale. Wellstone's funeral was like a cheap remake of "Satyricon" . Babs Streisand keeps issuing the dumbest of statements for the DNC, and the Dems just keep shooting themselves in both feet. All we can do is step aside in amazement.

The "Democrat establishment" is wailing against the evolution of the "Democrat Party" because the "good ol' boys" are loosing control of the monster they created.

"communists live in China. ultra-liberals live in California."
"It's kind of like the difference between a typhoon and a hurricane."
More to the point, Chinese Communists believe in capitalism, California ultraliberals don't.
