Chile....Patagonia ?!?!? Fly fishing ???? Dang !!! Your son is Bill Gates ? Heck I hate paying the tab at the RV park over near Navijo Lake in New Mexico to fish the San Juan River.
Albeit when traveling on Uncle Sugars Wind Force Airlines I always used the excuse my Orvis and Sage takedown fly rods were "PRC Antennas" and fished some of the extreams (sic) of the world per se (cast-reload-cast-shoot :o)....The Napo River in Ecuador, the Inland Sea in Saudi, Largo de'garda in Italy....even the Mekong near NKP AB in Thailand........
We may have to start a FR Extream Fly Fishing Club......I already have a Life Membership to the Ernest T. Bass Rock Chucking Society ect ect ......
Oh Well :o) I love to flyfish !!.........Stay Safe !

He did most of his wide travels to fly fish while he was a single guy making lots of money.
Now he can afford a trip to Mexico once a year if he is lucky.
However, don't feel sorry for him. His wife refinanced their home and paid for a great Striped Bass Fishing boat to fish the California Delta with. She figured that it was cheaper that therapy and easier than listening to him bitch about not fishing. (not that he didn't fly fish)
Actually those graphite rods would probably work great as PRC antennas. Which is why if a thunder storm comes up, you don't really want to be standing on the shore, in a boat or in the water waving a 9 to 15' graphite fly rod in the air.
