Excellent analysis. In my column this week I change my prediction on the Landrieu race. Before 7 November, I had predicted she would go into a runoff, but would prevail. Now that the "control of the Senate" issue is off the table -- and the fact that the "gender gap" just disappeared, I think she can be defeated as not in line with the thinking of the citizens of Louisiana. When it's edited and completed, I'll post that column on FR. The title is: "This Just In: Bush Defeats Clinton."

Congressman, Mary is toast.
The GOP smells blood in the water and the Democrats know the sharks are coming. There's nobody for Mary who can punch the shark in the nose.
The Democrats were destroyed Tuesday when Bush was distracted by other races. How do you think they'll do when he's focused on one race?
Her chances of being in office next year are about the same as Hussein's. Bank it.

IMHO, it is absolutely essential we win this race and the Thune race. We are only one Chaffee and one dead Republican Senator from a state with a Democrat governor found in Fort Marcy away from being back where we started. Anyone who thinks Hillary is going to stand by and be irrelevant is gravely mistaken. We need Terrell and Thune to get to 53.
Moreover, since more Democrat Senators are up for election in 2004 than Republicans, we would be that much closer to a filibuster proof 60 (if I remember my 6th grade American Government course correctly).
