I'm surprised no one else posted this earlier.
On Wednesday's Special Report with Brit Hume, Mr. Hume had Bill Kristol on during the one-on-one segment early in the show. Mr. Kristol, citing the infamous 'senior official' in the DNC(I think it was the DNC), said he promised this official not to say what he was about to say until after the elections. His tidbit was, according to their polling, the 'rats *were* going to pickup governor seats, house seats and maybe senate seats. That was until July 19th.
Mr. Hume asked what happened on that day. Mr. Kristol's reply: Bonior and McDermott got on tv and said they believed Hussien before they'd believe President Bush.
Thanks guys and keep moving left.

I saw that segment....it definitely ADDED to the demise, and I must say Gephardt did try to protect his members

Was it July 19th that they went out there? I thought that was in late August or even September.

Doesn't that say quite a bit though? Before Republicans and Freepers pat themselves into complacency, we should look long and hard at the overconfidence of the Dems that brought about their missteps. The country might very well have been in a very different place today had it not been for Bonior, McDermott, Belafonte, and Wellstone. Lautenberg's win shows the unbelievable candidate on the dem side can oftentimes win. One thing that is revealed is certain softness in the Democrat base: blacks for instance apparently stayed home in larger numbers. Repubs have to get the disgruntled blacks and the rising middle class blacks and latinos over to our side. If the government re-education centers are not immediately targeted, however, that will be a difficult proposition. Yes, I agree, I hope they keep moving left and I hope the Bonior's and Pelosi's of the world take them right into the Pacific. V's wife.

"...Pelosi for Minority Leader!..." This is blatant, reactionary 'member-ism' at its worst.
Why should democrats be restricted to choosing a Representative for their MINORITY leader?
That's not 'inclusive', and that's just not fair.
I nominate Al 'Bacon Fat' Sharpton.

Sorry, I apologize for thinking "inside the box" (no pun intended!)
But seriously, let's imagine that by 2004, the Dems have put together a "Dream Team" of Pelosi as House minority leader, Daschle or someone even more liberal remains as Senate minority leader, and John Kerry as the Dem Presidential candidate.
Projected results in the congressional and Presidential elections . . . ?

I nominate Helen Thomas...
Helen Thomas, the dean of the press corps - who is more outspokenly liberal than her peers - asked Fleischer if George Bush believed the election results gave him a "mandate" for "going to war with Iraq, privatizing Social Security, weakening the Civil Service Commission and so forth?" Fleischer told the ancient reporter: "Helen, you sound like a commercial that didn't work."

What if VP Cheney resigned due to health problems and was nominated for the SEC position (less stress so health would be OK) then President Bush picks J. C. Watts as the next VP. Both would sail thru the confirmation process. That would get the liberals like belafonte really whining, don't you think?

Before Republicans and Freepers pat themselves into complacency, Yes, we may be one run up in the 8th inning, but we would be wise to try to pad our small lead, especially with our desire to get conservative judges approved.
Here's our last "man" up to bat. Let's cheer her on and send some contributions her way.
Suzanne Haik Terrell, graduate of Loyola University Law School, New Orleans City Council member, first Republican woman to hold statewide office (as Elections Commissioner). Since taking office in 2000 she has achieved many of her goals, cutting the bloated Department's budget by canceling contracts, streamlining operations, and downsizing the Department's spending practices and personnel.
"We will never create a culture in this country that honors life until we have a pro-life woman making the case every day from the Senate floor. Today there are no pro-life women in the Senate. That must change. Louisiana can change it."--Suzanne Haik Terrell

"...Projected results in the congressional and Presidential elections . . . ?..." Prognosis Negative, of course.
But I want to see more 'diversity' than this.
I want to see them putting people of ambiguous sexual orientation and radical political stripe into leadership slots.
Go Left young democrats, Go Left!

Bonior and McDermott got on tv and said they believed Hussien before they'd believe President Bush. I also think it there was the Funerally that was over the top to too many conservative Democrats (I know, an oxymoron; however, they're not ALL socialist/commies).

It was late September. I did a
thread on the traitors the Monday after I saw them on the Sunday talking head shows.

The country might very well have been in a very different place today had it not been for Bonior, McDermott, Belafonte, and Wellstone. Last night Bill Bennett said that we're no longer a 49-49 America. We're now a 51-48 America. We have to keep perspective as hopefully we move forward aggressively.

The CIA blowing up cars in Yemen the day before elections -- it just not fair (heh, heh, heh)
