In a rational world, that is what would happen (even though I don't like to see
anyone lose a job).
But just as Walter Reuther (sp?) of the auto workers union used some early-day computer modeling
to convince auto manufacturers to pay their employees more...maybe the "unintelligent" (HA!)
Dubya will make a case that alterations of the code will lead to greater efficiency...and profits.
As the guy who introduced socialized medicine in England said when asked what he'd
do to convince M.D.s to go with the new system:
"I shall fill their mouths with gold."
(he just didn't say it wouldn't last...)

Good. I'm tired of paying these guys every year to deal with extracting my money from the grubby hands of the government.
No... I'm not lazy... when works 65 - 75 hours/week other things come before doing taxes... like eating.

In other news I'm predicting major layoffs at HR Block.Just to see H and R Block disappear forever would be reason enough to do away with the byzantine tax code. This is one company that has abused and connived so many for so long. I cannot tell you how many people I know (mostly immigrants making less than 20 thousand a year) who have been charged exorbitant fees for doing their taxes.

"In other news I'm predicting major layoffs at HR Block." The accountants who won't do Income Taxes anymore will be hired by me to mow my lawn, wash my cars, clean the house, cook my meals, etc, etc, etc.
In other words, they could go from doing useless work to becoming highly productive members of society.
