Bill Clinton Gives Democrats the Kiss of Death
NewsMax ^ | 11/6/02 | Christopher Ruddy

Bill Clinton has disappeared from TV screens this morning. He is nowhere to be seen. Why?

Clinton, just days ago, was all over the place. Never had a former president acted as the anti-thesis to a sitting president by making a national campaign swing for Democrats.

Never had a former president, and his wife, played such a controlling role in their party after they left the White House.

During this election we discovered, without any doubt, that the Clintons control the Democratic National Committee. They handpicked Terry McAuliffe to head the DNC. Their hand was noticeable in almost every key race around the nation.

But on Tuesday, America rebuked the Clintons and the Democratic Party.

This may be the reason, more than any other, the American people have given Republicans the rare opportunity of controlling of both Congress and the White House.

By almost every indicator, the Democrats should have gained seats, especially with a Republican in the White House.

Add to that factor the terrible economy with trillions in lost wealth in the stock market, and the Democrats should have easily had the Senate and House in a cakewalk.

Instead, the Democrats actually lost seats in the Republican House, and lost their control of the Senate.

In one word, the main reason the Democrats suffered defeat: Clinton.

The party seems hopelessly in the grips of the leftwing, disreputable Clintons and their minions.

Chris Matthews recently noted Bill Clinton’s influence in the Democratic party, and said he was acting like "Boss Tweed.” We know that Bill and Hillary continue to control the DNC through their handpicked chairman, Terry McAuliffe.

And, Bill Clinton’s dominance in the party became transparent as election day neared. In fact, Clinton’s hand was almost everywhere: New Jersey, New York, Minnesota, Florida.

He was also deciding where and how much the DNC would spend on behalf of specific candidates.

Though the Clintons engineered Carl McCall’s nomination for governor in New York, Clinton later told McCall he couldn’t have national DNC funds for his race.

In Florida, the Clintons and McAuliffe made defeating Jeb Bush their highest priority. Not only did millions flow in from Democrat coffers, but this past weekend the Democrats brought into the state their supposed "big gun,” Bill Clinton.

Up until Clinton’s visit, McBride had been gaining in the polls, had momentum on his side, and was within striking distance of defeating Jeb Bush.

Then Clinton arrived. He and Janet Reno appeared with McBride on a Miami stage to rally the vote.

Clinton gave McBride the kiss of death.

Clearly, the Clintons have done this with the Democrats nationally as well.

Voters are smarter than the Clinton Democrats give them credit for.

After 9/11, some liberal media tried to blame the new president. But that didn’t wash.

In fact, a Fox News poll found that a majority of Americans blame 9/11 on Clinton, not Bush. It was Clinton who decimated America’s national security infrastructure, making America vulnerable to attack.

The Democrats have also tried to pin the recession on Bush. But thinking Americans know that Bush inherited the recession from Clinton.

President Bush has been the perfect foil for Clinton. Bush has integrity. America is tired of the Clintons and wants them put in the attic. And so do many Democrats.

Soon after Al Gore lost the race in 2000, he met with Clinton in the Oval office.

According to the Washington Post, the meeting was anything but amicable. Gore explained to Clinton that with a strong economy and America at peace, he lost to Bush because of Clinton’s scandals.

Gore and other Democrats, if they want power again, need to have that discussion again. They needs to have an exorcism and free the party of the Bill-Hillary-Carville-McAuliffe-Begala gang. The Democrats needs to cut the sleaze.

The Democrats need to turn to new leaders, people like Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller, if the party wants to ever be back in power.

Clinton and his sock puppet, Terry McAwful, have crashed and burned. I'd love to be a fly on the wall the next time Daschle, Gephardt and the Clintonistas get together to discuss Dem strategy. The fur will fly!

Clinton, Reno and McBride. What's the common denominator? Oh yes, they're all losers.

Well, Caption Thud came to California and the Democrats won everything, even the Supterintendent of Public Instruction.

Of course, vote fraud is rampant here...how many ballot boxes are floating in the Pacific on the way to Hawaii can only be guessed.

Clinton gave McBride the kiss of death.

I truly believe that Jeb would have still managed to win regardless of any outside influence, let the truth be known Clinton's personal endorsement for McBride sparked a landslide victory for Bush.

I want to say what a class act Bush is. He issed a statement through Fleischer this AM that the parties need to cooperate. Also instead of throwing hiself a ticker tape parade, ala Clinton, he is in the WH and staying off camera. I voted Libertarian in 2000 and I want to say what a great thing it is to have someone with class in the WH again.

BTW did anyone see Clinton on CSPAN 2 yesterday saying he had the middle east thing solved, but the Palis and the Israelis just fdidn't recognize his great plan.

You are partially right, the other factor may be that fly-over-country isn't the only area that is sick of the left wing multi-cultural pro-homosexual anti-Christian socialist-communist-democrats

The Clintons have always been the kiss of death to the Democrat Party, all the while they have risen. The Clintons are parasites and the Democrat Party is their willing, suicidal host.

May it always be so.

I agreed with this article til just here. Joe LIEberman threw away what little integrity he had and changed fundamental positions he had espoused in order not to clash with the leftest populism of algore during the 2000 election. He's not a leader.

Ruddy forgets Gore is just as bad in the scandal department, no controlling legal authority and Ice tea.

Cooperate? For once I hope the Republicans outline the direction they are going to take the country and tell the Rats to "take it or leave it". They have a clear mandate to get this place squared-away and I hope they take advantage of it.

I hope the Clintons hold on to the reigns of the DNC with even more vigor, now. That will assure a republican victory in 2004.

I agree. My point was that Bush was being humble and classy, unlike the last guy. I hope Lott and his weak crew can stick it to em.

Missed that. I can tell you that I could have won the World Series for the Red Sox last year. But they didn't pay attention to my strategy.

I agree with this entirely, but it reads like it was written by Popeye.

This post gets my vote for "best of the day." So much truth packed in a small space. I'm impressed. Totally. And that doesn't happen often. NewsMax rules.

I say let the Dems figure out that Clinton is their problem and then let them figure out what to do about it; that can keep them busy (and losing elections) for years. Republicans should concentrate on going after officeholders, not holdovers. Let's not transform Clinton from a failing Democratic icon to a martyr. The pinkos, like the al Queda, will set upon each other soon enough. We should not interrupt our enemies while they're busy destroying each other.
