If that's how you want to judge a political candidate, then go ahead and do that. The way I judge a political candidate, is if s/he lives and acts in concert with the values that we supposedly share.
I think that's short-sighted. I don't vote for candidates based on their personal life.
Then character DOESN'T count? How do we square that with Clinton?
And, before you throw Clinton in my face, let me add that Tim Hutchinson violated no civil laws, did not commit perjury, did not try to destroy another person's life.
Irrelevant. May I remind you that FR was begun LONG before the Clinton crimes were brought to light. We all remember Gennifer Flowers and all the other "bimbo-eruptions." We all said that "Character matters."
I'm not happy that Hutchison lost, but that's HUTCHISON'S fault.
If he wanted to screw around on his wife while courting high office, he should have been a Democrat.
That's the party where Character doesn't Count, only POWER. Remember?

But, we will view the battlefield tonight, pick up our wounded, bury our dead and we will move on. But, you won't know or see where we've moved until we strike.... koko"
Better be careful. In a Peter Straub horror/mystery novel, koko is a serial murderer who lost it in 'Nam. Very nasty. The tone of this is disturbing and might be thought of as a threat or a rather nasty sort.

you know, I love Rush, I really do, been listening to him since '94. But his carping on W's "new tone" really had my panties in a wad, and I'm glad he had the stones to admit he was wrong tonight. Doesn't it feel great to be celebrating pubbie victories tonight on FR!!! I feel vindicated after 2000.

To: Gunder
I can't believe the place has survived this long. Maybe the owners should dust off their resumes and get ready to find a new job. Just like Terry McAullife will have to do.

CNN needs to replace the red/white/blue streamers in their newsroom background, to BLACK MOURNING BUNTING.
Sheesh, these guys don't disguise their sadness and rejection very well. Wonder what the bi**ch Catie Couric (NBC) will say tomorrow a.m. in the US? I'll be that smartass liberal smile will be lonnnnnng gone, and she will have blood red eyes from crying herself to sleep in NYC.
To: Cloud William
Bush must be so happy. He just made history - Again!
Clinton just made history, too. As an absolute failure! LOL
To: kingedgars
And I have a lot of code to hack out, but this is much more fun!
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Thune's election won't be certain for at least a couple hours. The secretary of state had to have a computer chip driven up from Nebraska to repair a malfunctioning tabulation machine. About 6,000 votes won't be counted until then.

Oh, I can't bear to watch. Tell me what is happening I got stuck on the phone with a friend in California.
