EARLY VOTING TRENDS (Various States)

Voter turnout appears to be heavy across Northwest N.C.
By Michael Biesecker and Jim Sparks JOURNAL REPORTERS
A cold and steady rain didnt keep people from showing up at the polls today in Northwest North Carolina. In Forsyth County, election officials said that turnout was brisk through the morning, with a steady stream of voters in precincts in and around Winston-Salem. Several local candidates stood outside voting sites, trolling for undecided voters.
Every voting booth in the gym at Latham Elementary School was filled this morning. By 11 a.m., 300 people had voted at the school nearly 20 percent of the 1,800 registered voters in the precinct. One precinct worker called the turnout "phenomenal."

Turn-Out Heavy in Some Missouri Precincts
Voter turnout is reported to be heavy at many polling places in Missouri on this mid-term election day. More than 3,200 people cast an absentee ballot in Greene County, by 5:00 p.m. Monday. Greene County Clerk Richard Struckhoff was predicting a turnout of 45-50%, matching the statewide prediction from Missouri Secretary of State Matt Blunt.
In other Ozarks counties, long lines were reported as some polls and poll workers reported voters taking several minutes to go through the lengthy ballots. In Webster County, turnout was predicted at 50%, with 699 absentee ballots cast. In Christian County, a 40% turnout was expected with 700 absentee ballots cast. And in Taney County, 35% of registered voters were expected at the polls. 646 absentee ballots had been requested in Taney County by 5:00 Monday evening.

Very busy in my little rural precinct in Vermont. I think people understand what an important election this is. As do the parties, since they spent more money in this "off year" than they spent in the last presidential election year. And that race wasn't inconsequential either.

But if turnout is high in places like the Republican suburbs of Chicago (what's left of them; they're mostly RINO now) That is true, especially in large suburbs like Naperville, (aka Yuppiesville and home of the soccer moms). The rapidly expanding outer-suburbs are still quite conservative.

Heavy turnout in Rural areas of Alabama, and light turnout in Montgomery, birmingham et al is good news for Bob Riley.
There is a good chance of a Republican sweep at the top of the Alabama ticket - GOv, Lt Gov, AG, SOS, Treasurer. Plus Sessions is cruising to victory.
The big question is my district where MIke Rogers is in a Battle with ultra-liberal Joe Turnham for Riley's congressional seat. The RAT Legislature changed the district to include more of Montgomery in hopes of stealing the seat. But what they have done is cause Earl Hilliard to lose his seat (even though a D will still win it) by taking his Montgomery base. Now that base is pissed and is apparently staying home today which is good news for Rogers.

Voting light - no one else waiting to vote - at midafternoon in my district of our lately-Republican south Jersey town - looks like no upset for Forrester - but then we all knew that already.......

Our poll workers told me turnout was heavy in our part of Montgomery Cty, PA. Our precinct has historically been pretty heavily Republican.

Hi,
I just came back from voting on this rainy day in Davie County,NC. We are next to Forsyth and near Salisbury which is Liddy Dole's home town. It is a Republican district and the voting was very, very heavy. Go Liddy Go!!!

"Heavy turnout in Rural areas of Alabama, and light turnout in Montgomery, birmingham et al is good news for Bob Riley." In my little rural community south of Mobile (mostly Republican), the pole people said that we were having a 'good' turn-out. I think Riley-R will win the governorship over Siegelman-D.

Voted this morning on the way to taking child to preschool. Stood in line about 10 minutes. They had an usually high number of voting booths and they were full. We are in Williamson County, Texas which is a strong Republican county. I feel positive as the time I went was later than the "going to work" time and there was still a line.

Did we? Politico2 is reporting exit polls show Forrester down by 1 miserable percent at this point. You may be eating crow by the time the day's over.......
