I have a great sense of humor but find NO humor in joking about eating babies. None. Zip. Nada. Zilch.

See, the joke isn't about eating babies. If you read it, there isn't anything in there about the actual process of eating babies. The joke is about the extremes of political advertising. You see, the humor comes from the fact that the politicians are making up huge lies about each other that are so ridiculous that no one - except only the most blindly partisan hacks - could believe the substance. But baby eating is just a surrogate image - a "symbol" if you will - for the type of ridiculous claims made by politicians. By tapping into the over the top symbol, the humorist is drawing on symbological parallels subconsciously rationalized by our ids, egos and superegos into the psycho-pseudological confluence of shared unconscious. That's why it's really funny. I always find my jokes to be even funnier after I spend ten minutes explaining the psychological underpinnings of humor and justifying why other people should be laughing at them. Eating babies has nothing to do with it.

Guess that goes a long way to explaining the push polls my parents are getting (they live in the district mentioned in Michigan). Gotta wonder if someone read the article, missed the satire and presumed it was true, and started push polling.

Thanks for the laugh!

Oh, so I'm a pansy for not considering dead babies as funny? You have alot to learn, Jim.

No, you are sort of funny because you are reacting emotionally to an incorrect perception of what the article is about. Sort of like being offended at words because they sound like other words even though the meaning is completely different.

I understand what you're saying...I just don't see it as funny to elude to eating babies. Period.

No, you're a pansy because you can't take a joke. The article is funny, satirical, and a pointed jab at politicians and their tactics. It grabs your attention. And since nobody is presently advocating eating babies, I'm pretty sure your fears are all for nothing. So you're afraid, it's for nothing, and that makes you a pansy.

Yet, "Poles Close in NC" gets banished to the irrelevance of chat. Go figure.

It's an outrageous example of how attack ads work.

Perhaps, but doesn't isn't it also an example of how we have digressed as a nation to even consider such an article is "funny?"

No wonder women weren't allowed to vote for so long.

I'm a husband and a father and I find this article and your support of it disgusting.

Should I not have the right to vote as well?

LOLOLOLOL!!! Comparing this non-funny, silly, inane, wannabe-satire drivel to Swift! Now THAT'S funny!!

I'm pointing out that the baby reference is a REFERENCE to Swift because some don't understand that. That is somewhat different than comparing it to Swift qualitatively. But you know that.

I think it's best just to give up. They apparently think they care about babies more than we do because we can laugh at this.

I do not consider it humorous to use dead babies/eating babies in satire. That is a logical response from me...and there is always emotion in the pro life response, from both men and women.

I fully realize the intent of the article. I just do not find it humorous to use babies in this way to promote an idea. Okay? :o)
