Until now, I really thought a Honda Civic was a race car. The drivers of those rice burners sure think they are. It's almost guaranteed that any car with a thunderous oversized tailpipe will be weaving in and out of traffic and speeding, too.

Huber believes that people who purchase noisy mufflers see them as "some sort of extension of their personality that they want to share with the whole world."

CARS?????

It's the motorcycles that make the most noise.

Mr. Huber is being far too loud. He's disturbing me.

.....Mark Huber says the manufacturers of hot rod mufflers are selling a product that is "lawlessly terrorizing" neighborhoods across America.

Yeah. And ain't it great?

Apparently now a loud muffler is a terrorist act. Hyperbole doesn't even begin to describe today's political atmosphere. Next they'll be saying that using loud mufflers causes cancer, heart attacks and tooth decay.

A free flowing exhaust actually boosts an engines horsepower. Flowmaster has an excellent product and makes the V-8 motor sound beautiful.

"That's where they take away my freedom and they rob quiet off of my property and out of my personal space."

I agree with him. I wish he would begin with the barking dogs at 3 AM, however.

Whoever invents the device that stops sound waves at the property line will be wealthier than Gates, Buffet, and Perot combined.

Stereo systems are a bigger nuisance. There are few things more annoying than one of these aholes driving by playing their crap and setting off car alarms in the middle of the night. Shooting said drivers should not bring serious punishment. Maybe picking up other litter from the streets. LoL.

I happen to like the "muscle car sound" coming from a well tuned V-8. They are no louder than most motorcycles or semi's.

Sounds like this guy Huber may be testosterone challenged.

Heart attacks, high blood pressure, jumpiness and anxiety are sufficient cause to ban this junk. Or require them to be driven only within a sound proof bubble within urban areas. Hmmmm, maybe civil suits could be used to stop it.

More likely sleep challenged.

And everybody knows what the Freudian spin is on that...as confirmed by Bruce Springsteen. Noisy vechicles of whatever catagory are driven by people who just don't care that other people are imposed and intruded upon, as long as he, the driver, gets noticed. Ditto for those sternum-jolting car audio systems that will leave their owners deaf within five years. Some people have no other means of getting attention. I have theorized that the people who drive these things or who have those car audio set-ups were ignored by their mothers at critical points in their infant-toddler development, and they spend the rest of their lives trying to reclaim "her" attention.

Hey, I thought this was a free country!! Boy, was I a dope.

You can't do, say, or have anything any more without offending some whining, cry-baby, bleeding heart who has nothing better to do then scream about how everyone one else should be living thier lives!

We've only got one a$$hole in our neighborhood with a loud stereo/street racer rice grinder who's a problem.

He was working on his car one day and I went over and had a bit of a chat with him. Nothing major, but I got the point across that quite a few of us on the street were getting a little annoyed at having him come home in the wee hours with the bass rattling the windows.

Haven't heard him since. 'Course, I'm twice his size. That may have helped make the proper impression. ;-)

351 with FlowMasters checking in. My daily driver rattles windows. Any lawyers feeling froggy enough to try and make me stop driving it, come on down. I love pulling up at the light when the car next to me is playing loud rap. Drowns it out completely

What I don't understand is, by the time you've lowered it, put the spoiler on the back, put the fancy gold rims on it, redone the exhaust system to get that coffee-can-full-of-metal-washers sound, put in the 40,000 watt stereo system with eight subwoofers, tinted the windows jet black, and put the neon lights all over the thing...you've spent enough money that you could have just bought a decent damn car in the first place. What sense does that make?

Go figure ;)

You said it, not me.

Make all the noise you want, just keep it outta my ears or I'll come and take a dump on your kitchen table.

Myself, I hear a lot more disturbing late night noise from the idiots with the thump-thump speakers.

But I am disturbed by the growing propaganda that equates oppressing somebody else with creating more "freedom".

Nah. Just the Tim Taylor "More Power" syndrome. Causes an adrenal rush that is addictive.

Attention? Not in my case. Two of the fastest cars I've owned have been "sleepers". Cars that look stock until they come off the line and leave you in the dust.

Mostly a guy thing.

I have to disagree with you. I rebuilt my engine for performance. Certain sound restrictions through smaller pipes limit air flow and in turn my performance. My car can sound loud but at idle it is a low rumble. You tell me how to reproduce 500 pure HP without the rumble and I'll consider it. We don't all live in cities with small roads and tight traffic. Some of us live in the country where you can stretch what the car does

I agree. If it is any consolation.... you can know that those low frequencies (100hz and lower) will really damage their hearing. When they are our age they'll likely be wearing hearing aids. (government funded hearing aids of course) :)
