Thanks MS! A quick story to tell about our Freep yesterday.

From where we parked the Freepmobile to the Convention Center was only three blocks by the numbers. But two of those blocks were LONG! Don Friovinai and I were the last to leave the Freepmobile to walk there. By the time we got to the far side of the building where I took the picture of the two $40 a day and chicken dinner sign holders, I was out of breath and a sore was starting on my leg stump. We walked to the back far side of the building where I took the picture of DF holding two signs.

We stayed in contact with Travelgirl, sweetliberty and the others via cell phone. We checked in and they asked us to go back to the front door while they manned the back door. DF and I started back to the front, DF leading the way all the while holding up the two double faced signs, I was lagging behind.

We made it back to the front of the building where the sore on my leg was really beginning to get my attention. TheBattman soon joined us. I took a couple of pictures, and DF took mine with TheBattman in front of the “B” entrance. The “B” entrance goes directly through the building to the back entrance where Sweetliberty, Travelgirl and the others were posted. TheBattman decided to go around the building to join them. DF and I stayed at the front where few, very few people went in. Someone had dropped a small American flag that Don Friovinai retrieved it and proudly displayed it in his jacket pocket.

We checked in with the others and decided to join them since there was more foot traffic there. DF, tottin’ his signs started the long trek all the way around the building. I decided to chance cutting through it. I walked in and saw a young man wearing an official badge. I paused and asked him if there were many people there for the rally. He replied, ”I don’t know, I’m with the Jehovah Witnesses.” I thanked him and continued my short, by comparison to TheBattman and Don Friovinia’s walk around the building, walk through the concourse.

I was wearing my warm Free Republic jacket and sporting a cap with “Don’t blame me…I didn’t vote for THE DOPE FROM HOPE” emblazoned on it. As I approached the backside door where I could see the other FReepers outside I spotted a Mark Pryor booth. Thinking I too might get a little American flag I walked up to them, was warmly greeted and asked them if they had the little flags. They didn’t, but asked me if I wanted a Mark Pryor sticker. I agreed and the young lady placed it on my shirt where the FR jacket was opened, my cap right in front of her face. They then asked me if I would like some bottled water. Thinking the others may need a sip, I took one. The label wasn’t a normal label but a political statement for Pryor. I laughed to myself thinking of the irony.

I was so tired I couldn’t open the door so a policeman opened and held it for me. As I walked (hobbled actually) toward the others an elderly couple approached headed to the X-42 rally. I asked the man if he would mind putting the bottle of water in my jacket pocket, all the while expecting a backlash from them for the cap I was wearing. But they were nice and he gladly did so!

This isn’t much of a story, but I though, and still think it odd and funny that no one, not one democRAT questioned my political thinking!

P.S. More pictures later.
