Those of you on the West Coast might want to make sure you catch the season opener. The second segment deals with the effects of gun control. Very funny.

Yeah, caught that... "to make the world better"... even the cops turned in their guns. You forgot the *puke* alert.

It was great. Reminiscent of the episode where Lisa wished for world peace, after which the space aliens take over the now-disarmed earth using wooden clubs.

Actually they turned the tables...
... when they collected all the guns, then only the criminals had guns.
They had to go back and alter the past. (this was a halloween show).

Yeah I saw it it was great( except where the future Homer came back and said " gun violence has destroyed the world but luckily Moe shoot him").

At one time the Simpsons was my favorite show. For some reason I just quit watching about 6 months ago. I happened to see this evenings show and my wife and I agreed, it is no longer funny.
Perhaps a few laughs here and there but it definitely is not what it was.

I'm guessing you didn't see the second half of the spoof, did you?

I loved Moe's line: "What is this, open-mike night?"

I heard that in the early episodes of the Simpsons, Marge swiped Maggie over the cash register with her grocieries and the register screen flashed "NRA 4 Life". I've not been able to confirm this. Has anyone info on this rumor? I love the Simpsons and hope it's true. I hate the thought of supporting a liberal through all the Simpsons collectables I've bought.

That story came from one of the episodes in which they said (in jest) that was the message which came up.
I used to tape it to watch later so I watched once in frame by frame stills and it just has some numerical price. It is only on for about two frames. Too bad because it would have been funny if it really did say that.

It is true althought I think the phrase was NRAFOREVER. I think it was the 100th episode special.
I also remember an episode in which Homer's brother got Bart a lifetime membership to the NRA.

If you watch it enough, they actually pick on everyone on every side of the issues.

"And the most evil German of all time...Kaiser Wilhelm!"
He was shooting his Lugars into the air.
