Praise to Allah, the Lord of the worlds who have created us Muslims and blessed us with His Mercy Jihad in his straight path. Peace and Blessings to Muhammad, his family, his companions and to all those who follow him in straight path until the Dooms day. Okay, that's all I need to read.
Kill him.

I am no expert, but I believe the politically key part of his statement absolving Aslan Maskhadov to be a lie, an acceptable one under islam because it is designed to deceive the infidels as part of their war strategy. If it works the Russians will still have a chechen political figure to negotiate with, which they don't right now. Shamil Basayev needs the chechen 'establishment' (ha!) to keep a dialogue going while he and his jihadist murderers continue attacks and wear down the will of the Russian populace, who would eventually force their leaders to accept a political solution in the chechen's favor. This method affords them a much greater chance of success as opposed to jihad alone. The other day the Russians held a press conference and played recordings of communication intercepts between the terrorists and their cohorts outside the country. In one of these, Movsar Barayev (the suicide squad leader) was recorded telling Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev (chief idealogist) that Shamil Basayev was there when they prepared for the mission, and that he (Basayev) "was acting on Aslan's instructions". Yandarbiyev then suggested that he should claim Aslan Maskhadov was not involved. Shamil Basayev is doing that for him with this statement. One might say the chechens hope to play 'goodcop'/'badcop' with the Russians, when there is really only one, and he is BAD. (I know, the Russians are the cops, but the analogy still gets the point across).

What about the ethnic Russians in Chechnya?
I would suggest they leave.
What about the Chechens in Chechnya who don't support Basayev et al.?
I would suggest they take counter-actions against the islamotrash that are making their country a hell hole or plan on leaving. History is replete with examples of 'native' peoples not only refusing to house, feed and protect those cancers within, but acting against them to stop or slow them...paying the highest prices to do so.
There's no 'sanitary' answer...but, you are either with the terrorists and will pay the price they have put on you or you will protect the integrity of your land and (maybe die trying) stomp out the evil islamotrash...or leave.
If and when America is overrun, we who love this country will be faced with similar, tough choices. I prefer standing up and stopping the evil.

Funny thing is: most Russians on the street interviewed came out of this quite the opposite: believing in the ability of the State and the Spetsnaz to protect them and even more hardlined against the Chechins then before and even more proud of being Russian then before.....the dumbed Jihaders get the opposite effect again...they need to stick to intimidating France...it's the only one it seems to work on.

Not much different then what your idol Tujdamin did to Croatia...especially when he attacked Christian Krajina, allied with Isobegovich and his Mudjahaden and looked the other way while Afghans and Iranians stormed into Europe. But....I forget myself....you'll be along to appolagize away all of this by some quirk of circular logic....oh, and then there's the whole thing about bringing the old Croat Nazies back....but that's a whole different matter.

What was the correct solution to the problem, in your opinion? You tell me: Croatia used it in it's eastern provinces and in Krajina.

"Are we talking those in war gear, or women and children too? You ask a lot of questions....do you have any answers?
How are targets of terrorist attacks - to defeat their attackers?
I would be interested to hear your opinion on this problem...
My own personal opinion - is that terrorism can only be defeated by making the cost too high... Terrorize the terrorist... Make it too painful to continue.. Defeat them.
Terrorists that "hide" within the civilian community, are hypocrites to complain when "innocents" are killed in the process of getting to the terrorists....
There has been no war in history -- where "innocent" civilians were spared.... civilians are always slaughtered in large numbers.....
That is why the "innocent civilians" should take greater care and action against the lunatics they permit to operate in their neighborhoods... If they permit them, they are part of the problem..
One should never choose violence to resolve disagreements or impose one's will upon another -- unless one is prepared to receive violent unrestrained responses.
