WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE TINFOIL/ART BELL-TYPE THREAD????
11-2-2002 | LUIS GONZALEZ

Posted on 11/02/2002 4:43:08 PM PST by Luis Gonzalez

I'm wondering what your all-time tinfoil or Art Bell-like thread in FR has been. You know, the five thousand words paragraphs, single spaced, no capitals, screed by those expecting the end of the world, the take over of the world by the Illuminati, or the return of Walter Mondale...wait, that may actually happen.

FreeRepublic has been a source of news and commentary, but it also provides information on some of the most unusual topics out there.

"Luis, you certainly remember my bold, controversial and ironic vanity ... "Has anyone seen my car keys?"

No, but I do remember you as being the individual posting the disturbing theory that all those lonely shoes I keep seeing on the side of the road are looking for their partner who apparently ran off with all those socks that turn up missing from my dryer.

Heartbreaking.

You're quite welcome! Nita Nupress (aka Nita Nuprez) posts rarely these days, but I'm hoping she'll be back to her usual posting very soon! Hugs!

You can throw pretty much anything you read originating from Sierra Times, DEBKA, or the Libertarian Party into the "Kook" pot. Red faces, white livers, and blue candidates do not a viable political movement make.

The authentic ones have been shown scientifically to be markedly different from the manmade ones.

Beyond that, people will believe more or less what they want to believe.

Simple amonia is supposedly dreadfully toxic--even fatal to greys if they get much at all on them.

Haven't heard of the results of pissing on them. Guess it hasn't been tried unless accidentally out of fear???

A friend of mine who helped the mafia out on a certain type of project a few times insisted he was buried in the foundation of a big new Federal building back east some where.

Open-mindedness is such a wonderful thing--at least to a point.

It's opposite is so familiar yet so . . . smelly--or is it distasteful.

It's funny. I remember several of what could be described as pop-culture references from the mid-sixties that may actually refer to these cosmonauts:

The cosmonauts and an errant "lander" that land on Gilligan's Island.

A Star Trek episode where a missing Enterprise crewman is found by isolating his heartbeat from the rest of the accounted-for crew.

An episode of Scooby-Doo that featured an undead skeleton in an astronaut's flight suit.

Are there any others?

Actually, you reminded me that Jim's request was primarily about STARTING NEW THREADS that weren't that pertinent to the main reasons FR was formed.

That if you had some compulsion to say something far askew from the main purpose of FR--AT LEAST PLEASE just add a comment to a thread that was already going instead of starting a new one.

Soooooooooo my adding a comment to your SILLY avoidance of following the boss's kind request still fits within his request--for me. Your starting this thread is another matter. :)

And, like you, nobody would call him a coward to his FACE!

I'd say it to Long Cut's face or anybody else's if they acted like a coward. At least I include the person I'm talking about in my To: list so they at least have a chance to respond..

If your reply is supposed to be a slap at me, them your Christian charity is a lie.

" OPEN MINDEDNESS " ? The amount of socalled " open mindedness " on tinfoil hat threads, is so open , that the true believers' brains have all fallen out. Those, who champion such things as : men didn't walk on the moon, the Bible, that George Washington took his oath on is " SATANIC " , and the rest of FR's obscene tinfoil threads, are the same people who are so benighted, as to fall for the " pigeon drop " and deserve to be robbed blind. They haven't evolved , in in this age of information , beyond the illiterate peasants , who bought dirty ditch water , believing that it was a bottle of " MARY'S TEARS ", or the bones from some just eaten chicken, as one or another Saint's bones, or a piece of just picked up and destressed branch , as a piece of the " true cross ", in the Middle Ages. Now THAT , dear, is distinctively smelly ... or is it pathetically stupid ? :-)

Do you have a problem with those that think beyond what they've been told to think? There is a difference between a "true thinker" and a "true believer". To "believe" is to base your knowledge on faith. To "think" is to critically analyize facts. Closing your eyes and pretending something isn't there is more akin to preserving one's belief system than it is to seeking truth...

I suppose that would make you a "true believer" of your own opinions.

This is FReeper History we're discussing here!

Think of this as sort of an required elective on the way to a Masters in FReepology.

For a Phd, you need to actually understand (and remember) all that crazy crap they talk about over at the Anti-FReepers site.

I have a VERY big problem with people, who don't know very much at all, about a topic that they " feel " something about and believe any and every crackpot website, because it jibes with their already madeup minds. I take a great deal of umbrage, with people, who are supposedly educated , but who swallow, as whole clothe, erronious and spurious " facts ", and then come here to spew bildge. I suppose that makes me something horrid, in your opinion. I shan't tell you what that makes you , in mine. LOL

" TRUE BELIEVER " ? Is that the best you can manage ? I have debated ( more like fought knock down drag out flame wars ) here, with people who don't know the first thing about a subject, except what they have read / been told , by someone else, with an agenda, who doesn't know the first thing about the subject ; however, I do . That doesn't make me whatever horrid thing you are alluding that I am.

Your own hubris proves that you, instead of me, has made you into what you seem to think I am. And as to " thinking ", NO the tinfoilers don't T-H-I-N-K ; they just parrot other people's garbage.
