It has quite a lot of interesting details I hadn't heard yet. I have a few corrections, along with some additions as follows. Oh, and change your Lansing sniper date to 2001.
And where did you find your reference that Muhammad was sighted in Antigua in August 2002? I have a pretty believable source NYT that says they were also in Tacoma the last week of August 2002!
Anyway, here are my updates and additions to what you posted...
- December 1999 (not 1998) - Tacoma WA, Second wife Mildred Muhammad filed for divorce and the couple separated in February 2000.
- spring 2000 - St.Johns Antigua - Lee Malvo, who arrived from Jamaica in 1998 with his mother, began reciting the tenets of Islam one day in his Seventh-day Adventist school. About the same time, he began living with John Allen Muhammad, an American convert to Islam, and three of Muhammad's children. Sometime after that, Muhammad's first name began appearing in front of "Lee" on some documents involving Malvo. In December 2000, Malvo suddenly stopped attending classes.
- April 14 2001 - Muhammad was caught flying into the US with fraudulent documentation, (a 15-year felony) He was also smuggling in two illegal alien (Jamaican) women and a girl with false documentation (another felony). He also lied to INS investigators (another felony?) The aliens were deported. Muhammad was released without charges when the US Attorneys in Miami refused to prosecute.
- April 23 2001 - In a hearing in Pierce County District Court, Judge Molly Davis granted John Allen Williams's petition to formally change his name to John Allen Muhammad.
Muhammad lies under oath to the judge:- Davis: Are you involved in any legal proceeding other than this name change?
- Muhammad: No, ma'am.
- Davis: Are you changing your name to defraud or mislead any person or creditor?
- Muhammad: No, ma'am.
- His divorce case was still active
- He appears to have not notified the divorce court of his name change, therefore it appears he DID have intent to defraud or mislead.
- June 2001 - Illegal aliens Malvo and his mother claim they entered the US illegally as stowaways. The mother Una James got a job at the Red Lobster in Ft. Meyers, Fl.
One report says Una worked in that city as a restaurant cook from January until November 2001 - August 13 2001 thru October 16 2001 - Lee Malvo attended Cypress Lake High in Fort Myers Florida, and lived with his mother in a rented home at 2510 Broadway in Fort Myers.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office shows one call to 2510 Broadway on March 2001 but law enforcement took no action against anyone. Around September 2001, [can anyone say WTC bombers?] neighbors report that people would come in and out of the house at all times of the night. - August 31 2001 - Police seized the 3 children and return them to their mother on 9/4/2001 They find the kids because Isa Nichols gives police Muhammad’s license-plate number, and Muhammad applied for government assistance in August. The child-welfare authorities found the kids living at a homeless shelter with their father in Bellingham, Washington Muhammad was furious and humiliated. Mildred goes into hiding out of fear and Muhammad is under orders not to go near any of them.
- September 2001 - After the 9-11 attack, homeless shelter employees reported Muhammad as suspicious. He was too well dressed and took regular airline flights. Not your typical homeless person - often flashed cash - spoke very highly of the WTC bombers. Muhammad was heard saying that 9-11 was very good and should have been done long ago. Muhammad claimed that 19 people did what a whole army could not do!
- October 12 2001 - John's name is already legally Muhammad, but on a DIVORCE court record, he still signs his old name: John Williams. (another crime?) Muhammad also complains in these records that his wife was awarded the family cars: "the 300 ZX and the Jaguar"
- AFTER October 16 2001 - Malvo followed Muhammad to Washington State. The angry mother followed. She found them living in a homeless shelter.
Malvo was enrolled as a junior at Bellingham High School, but school officials were suspicious because he had no papers or transcripts. He was given time to obtain them. He attended the high school from mid-October to mid-December apparently under the name John Lee Malvo.Confusion occurred over Malvo's arrival date because a Tacoma karate school instructor, Felix Strozier, at first said John Malvo took karate lessons in his studio in summer 1997, along with Muhammad's other son. Mr Strozier later confirmed he was mistaken over the boys names, and it Lindburg Muhammad and John Muhammad Jr., not Malvo, who took the karate lessons.
Mr. Strozier told FoxNews on 11-02-2002 that he has never met Lee Malvo. - about November 27 2001 - Muhammad was driven by a co-worker to a gunsmith, where he was overheard asking about modifying a rifle so it could be "folded neatly in a small case". On November 30th, the co-worker alerted Bellingham police, the FBI, the Border Patrol and the ATF. Two months later, after nothing happened, she called the same authorities again.
- Dec 19 2001 - Malvo and mother were arrested by INS in Washington state, and detained for one month after the school reported them for not delivering transcripts.
- about January 15 2002 Malvo and his mother are released. They said they had been stowaways on a boat filled with 'asians' and jumped ship in Miami.
Immigration law says stowaway aliens are to be deported immediately, but this pair was released and given November 2002 deportation hearing dates, even though they are both said to be living in in homeless shelters and were described as likely to abscond. Part of the reason is the border patrol suposedly learned these two were smuggled into this country by Muhammad, and that gives the illegals more rights than a stowaway.
The mother pays $1500 bail, and soon afterwards disappears, Malvo is released on his own recognisance into Muhammad's custody. - Early 2002 - Muhammad tried to pick up coffee house guitar player Hannah Parks, saying he is a music agent. He always tried to tell her more about Islam than she cares to hear. Others said Muhammad is always distributing Islamic leaflets.
- Jan 2002 - Muhammad gets an apartment in Tacoma. Neighbors claim they hear gunshots every night throughout the month from the four-plex where Muhammad / Malvo are living. Police later dig up a tree stump that contains bullets matching the Bushmaster .223.
- Early Feb 2002 - A very well dressed Muhammad visits family in Baton Rouge LA with Malvo, whom he says he is helping travel back to Jamaica. He says that he is in the immigrant import-export business, and helps people in trouble get in and out of the country.
- Feb 12 2002 - Muhammad arrested in Tacoma for grocery store shoplifting and released on $900 bail, ordered to return March 06.
- February thru April 2002 - For parts of these months Muhammad and Malvo are allowed to live with another man who loans the pair his guns. They are then used in at least two crimes.
- Feb 16 2002 - 21-year-old Keenya Cook is shot and killed. Muhammad has now been positively linked, using a borrowed gun. Cook lived with her aunt Isa Nichols, whom Muhammad was furious with the summer before.
- March 06 2002 - Muhammad misses his shoplifting court date and forfeits his $900 bail. A warrant is issued for his arrest, valid until the year 2010.
- Mar 25 2002 - A credit card is stolen from the purse of a a greyhound bus driver while she drives between Nogles and Flagstaff Arizona. This card gets used in Tacoma ~ april 9th.
- about April 09 2002 - This card is used to buy gas in Tacoma, and later in October is used by Muhammad and Malvo to try to electronically transfer a $10 Million dollar ransom out of the country, using foreign accomplices probably in Antigua. Credit card company notifies card-owner on April 11th.
- May, June and July 2002 - Muhammad and Malvo live full-time during these months with the man who loans them guns. NOTE: He says Muhammad lives in Washington state with him thru much of July (he did not leave WA for good in June).
- Between May 1 - May 4, 2002 - Muhammad or Malvo fire at least two shots into the holy shrine of the Tacoma Jewish Synagogue with another borrowed gun. No one is injured.
- June 01 2002 (or the morning of June 02) - A break-in occurred at the Tacoma INS. Stolen were: at least five INS stamps, including an admission stamp, and one that allows refugees to enter the US and apply for resident alien status, an INS badge, an assortment of official forms. a laptop computer, a .40-caliber pistol and two clips of ammunition,
- July 20 2002 - A .22 caliber Magnum handgun was stolen at a gun show in El Paso, Texas. This gun is later confirmed used by Muhammad/Malvo and/or a 3rd accomplice in the Montgomery AL killing on September 21.
- About late July 2002 -Muhammad and Malvo arrived by bus in Baton Rouge dirty, hungry and haggard. Muhammad appeared dangerously delusion according to his cousin - Anderson, whom he showed his duffel bag containing a rifle.
- late august 2002 - Tacoma, Wash. - Late THIS summer, just before school started, John Muhammad and Lee Malvo showed up at Todd Paulson's auto repair shop in Tacoma, Wash., Muhammad wanted to buy a 1965 white Lincoln Continental in good condition. Muhammad seemed interested in only one thing. "He wanted to know how big the trunk was" For three days, Muhammad and Malvo dropped by but, at $2,500, finally concluded the car was out of reach. Within days, they would choose a car on the other side of the country for $250 and convert its big trunk into a sniper's lair.
- Oct 04 2002 - At the Spotsylvania Mall Michaels store (not at Bowie MD) Woman reported a black man crouching beneath the dashboard in a dark chevy caprice.
