Moderator says Mondale said he will work to repeal part of the Bush tax cut.

Mondale at the 1984 DemonCritter convention said; "WE WILL TAX THEIR ASSES OFF OF THEM."

I can't believe this Green Party candidate is wearing a sweater and jeans.

Yeah, and the rods in my eyes are killing me from how bright that red sweater looks. The glasses bit - for a moment I was thinking this guy is just wearing them because of the bright lights. He's really something - more like comic relief.

Is that a white Ray Charles?

You took the words right out of my mouth. I was only able to tune into the last 1/2 of the debate and that's what kept rolling through my mind every time the question went to Tricomo. I just can't get past the glasses, the bad makeup job and the gawdawful red sweater - with BUTTONS on it and badly placed at that, no less. LOL! And I understand "stagecraft" and how this will play with the public - NOT!

See Coleman's bio in post #159. Sorry, but Doug Forrester is not in Norm Coleman's league. In my line of work I follow local government, and Norm Coleman may have been the best mayor in America. He just did a phenomenal job in St. Paul. I think having a former mayor in the Senate would be great. We already have enough millionaire businessmen. Coleman is also sincerely pro-life, and he does not hide it because it comes from him having lost a child.

Coleman is going to be a huge star if he wins this election. And if he doesn't, when Mondale croaks in a couple of years Gov. Pawlenty will appoint him anyway!

Mondale is only traveling by bus. Breaking news on Michael Savage's show. Regarding debating, had I been away for 30 years, I'd be hesitant to enter into a debate. I think he's hesitant to be the Senator from MN. I think he agreed to debate Monday night while everybody's watching Monday night football. He is acting like a chicken imo.

Mondale has to be hurt by not showing up for this debate tonight. It's being shown statewide, and with the friendly, informal atmosphere, the good questioning, people will have to think Mondale cowardly for not showing up. They may even think he wants to run on the death of Wellstone, not the issues.

And at the end, the announcer said this debate would be re-shown on the biggest TV stations in the area - and 3 times no less over the next 2 days. The Dems made a BIG mistake by not having Fritz at least have some FACE time here.

Somebody PLEASE tell me why the Independent Party candidate ALWAYS sounds like a Democrat, I mean on EVERY frickin issue...

.... that's generally because Independents are too scared to be labelled as Democrats. Why even the Democrats are too scared to be labelled as Democrats these days!

c)Minnesota is not New Jersey, with 45 percent ot the electorate being broken-glass Democrats.

I don't think of them as "broken glass democrats." More like "Walking dead democrats."

...true blue conservative....

Seems to me that you are streaching wayyyy back, looking for ture blue conservative elected officials, since Ronald Regan.

As a conservative, I have learned to deal with the cards they I have in my hand.

Is President Bush a "ture blue conservative"?

My answer is no.

But we have to play the game with the best cards that we have delt ourselves.

Right now President Bush is our best hand.

It took 40 years of the dem's controling our country, to give us a wake up call.

It may well take 40 years to regain our republic.

I will not live to see it, but my children and grandchildren will, but only if we can take our quest one step at a time.

I, like you want everything to take place now. Change does not work that way.

40 years to get sick, 10, 12, 14 years to get well.

Works for me. Tom

Norm did a good job.

Norm did a GREAT job. And yes, why is he being labelled a "moderate conservative"? This guy is good - REALLY good.

I may reconsider my vote for the nose mining Red Green "goddess-loving" matter-antimatter engineer.

Uh........ he's not an engineer. More like a space traveller. See his bio here. The "highlights" that made me roll my eyes:

Occupation:
Ray has worked as an Educator, a Writer, and is the Founder & Director of Kalpulli Turtle Island Multiversity, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ecological and cultural restoration with an emphasis on indigenous people & values.

Political/civic experience:
Ray has been an activist for his entire life, dating back to the civil rights & anti-Vietnam War period. He is a deep ecologist, an ecofeminist, a student and advocate of ecocentric, indigenous-centered society.

Education:
He has an incomplete doctorate in African History, with minors in Medical geography and U.S. History. In addition, he is self-educated (or "unschooled") in environmental and indigenous issues.

Political philosophy:
Ray is in full accordance with the Green Party platform, and passionate about the four pillars of the Global Green Party: Nonviolence, Social & Economic Justice, Grassroots Democracy, and Ecological Wisdom.
------------------

If this is what the Greens are all about, I'm running .... far, far away.

No, I was watching on C-Span, and when the networks were on a commercial break, C-SPAN showed campaign ads from the candidates, to show what they were airing in Minnesota.
