Straight Men Benefit from Homosexual Label

Nearly 80 percent of heterosexual men have admitted to pretending to be gay at some point in their lives in order to achieve something of benefit, according to a U.K. dating site's survey.

When respondents were asked to explain situations where a "benefit" may occur from pretending to be gay, popular answers included gaining preferable seats or upgrades when checking in for a flight, gaining entry to a fashionable club or when negotiating discounts in shops.

The Dating Channel's panel of relationship experts, including "text jockeys" and viewers, were surveyed on the subject of sexuality and dating as part of the research required for the launch of the new gay channel TDC2.

Over 70 percent of straight male respondents also admitted to having visited a gay club in order to meet single women.

Surprisingly the survey also found that nearly 50 percent of straight men that work in a media environment have felt under pressure at some point in their career to not reveal their sexuality. This shows an increasing trend in negative discrimination, claim the survey's authors.

The results also suggest that 90 percent of straight women have had a one-time gay sexual experience. However, in most cases the experience happened over 3 years ago.

This is complete B.S. I doubt that 70% of straight men have been in any type of bar, period. And what fool would go into a gay club looking for women. What morons make this crap up?

Many urban gay bars and clubs have zillions of hot straight women who are there with their gay male friends (gay men tend to have HORDES of hot female friends). You don't get out much, do you?

Re: gay men with straight women friends: It's not a joke. Women like gay men because they're good conversationalists, know where the best restaurants are, really know how to shop, are interested in a lot of the same things, and *need* women in many cases for social cover. Gay men also like the adulation lavished on them by straight women (which shows that masculinity isn't necessarily a function of sexual orientation - most men like attractive women to pay attention to them and make them look "cool.")

Come on, now. You should know that to many straight men, two women going at it is very sexy. It is a big part of straight porn (or so I'm told).

It's true. I have known many homosexual men in the antique business and I really like them. One used to give me a very nice piece of jewelry at the shows we did together. He was very kind (bisexual, I believe). Most of them were. My brother in law was gay and he was very nice. He bought his parents an apple orchard/farmette where they lived until they both died, and then he sold it to my son for a very good price and no down payment. When he died, he left my kids the money that would have gone to my first husband. He left his siblings each about $30,000. He didn't have to give it to my kids but he did. So, I don't have the hatred of gays that a lot of people do. I've seen their good side far too often. I hate the lifestyle they've chosen, but I can't find it in my heart to hate them as people. (I'm not talking about the militants, here or the pedophiles.)

Of course, how come I can't convince the Empress Palpatine to, oh, never mind...

And the Empress Palpatine is probably wondering why you won't...well...'take one for the team', let's say.

Quitting today, eh?

My uncle decided to quit and he used a rather novel method - he filled a small vial with vinegar, and every time he felt the urge to light up he would put just one drop of it on his tongue.

Been over three years now and still smoke-free.

I've actually run into several attractive straight women who went to gay bars.

They claim they just want to dance without being hit on.

I think they were just ditching me. (Get off my leg Dinsdale!! Urgh, >smack<. I'm going to a gay bar.)

Urban legend at my law school has it that one heterosexual student secured admission with mediocre marks and LSAT scores by writing a moving personal essay about coming to terms with his homosexuality and becoming a staunch public advocate of homosexual rights. Everyone swears it was a guy in the class a year or two ahead of them.

"yeah, thats it, I'm gay, and, uh, never really have been interested in women before, and if you and your girlfriend were to come home with me, maybe you could get me interested in women and being straight by really working on each other and me - plus, I don't relly know what women want and you, uh, will have to show me."

Don't laugh, I knew a guy who pulled that off perfectly. He was a little guy, 5'7" or so, with the stereotypical lisp (years of speech therapy couldn't beat it). This little son-on-a-gun was the most raging hetero I'd ever met!

I think the article meant that 90 percent of women had had a gay experience -- in other words, with another woman.
